It has been for a while when we last updated the blog. Much has been happening and the boys are still travelling all around the world. What did the guys do in Morocco? Snowboarding? In Africa?

Miikka Niemi gives us a heads up:

“Morocco was completelty mystery before going there. I had no clue if we would find any snow or anything to film in that matter. However I was blown away by the terrain, people, landscape and climate. There was for sure enough snow to snowboard. In matter a fact we had so many places to film that we almost ended up not having enough time to film everything worthy. I’m really happy about how the whole trip turned out. Waiting for the next trip to Africa for snowboarding.”

After Morocco some of the guys flew to Japan while the other crew was filming powder in Russia.

“Japan is the country of powder snow and crazy fan culture. That’s exactly what we found there. Lots and lots of snow. It was dumping so hard for 7 days in a row. Lot of cool places just next to the roads. Lot of pillow lines and powder turns. It was a great trip indeed. The start for the trip also couldn’t be any better, first and second place in Toyota Big Air for Antti (Autti) and Risto (Mattila)”, Niemi points out.

Early season Scrapbook shenannigans.

The season and serious Scrapbook filming has officially started. Jibbing in Ylläs and Ruka has been lots of fun, and we also got some good shots when
filming city rails in Rovaniemi city. Good work boys!

Lumimaisema. We’re guessing that’s in Finland.

The thing everybody already probably knows but we still want to mention is that Antti-Juhani “Naku” Piirainen won the Slammer award “Snowboarder of the year”. The prize definetely went to the right man, congratulations!

“I’m speechless and thrilled from this kind of honour, thank you! And to everyone it may concern, huge apology that I for some reason didn’t come up to the stage… Deafness, here I come?”, says Naku.

Kitzbuhel.

At the end of November some of the brave boys of Northern Scrapbook crew flew to Austria and had some amazing quality time in Leogang and
Kaprun. Let’s hear the comments!

Kaprun awaits.

“It was hell of a good trip concidering it’s the beginning of the season”, says Miikka Niemi, the director of film. “Conditions were luxurious. We had four powder kickers there and it was maybe the best powder days we’ve ever had. Snow was light as a feather, sick!”

Must have been an amazing trip ’cause Miikka sounds still stoked about Austria even though it’s pouring rain here in Finland. But we won’t give up, the sweet winter days are coming back again!

Hi everybody, Northern Scrapbook is a new snowboard documentary from Finland.

Hi everybody,

Northern Scrapbook is a new snowboard documentary from Finland. The movie is going to be different from standard interview-based documentaries and traditional snowboard movies. In addition to snowboarding we capture what is happening behind the scenes, and in making of a snowboarding movie. We also show what is it like to be a professional snowboarder, with all the ups and downs, not just the final tricks that end up in the film.

The movie presents the pros and the talented up-coming stars of Finnish snowboarding scene. We will take you on a journey to show where the Finnish pros are coming from.

Antti Juhani Piirainen. One of the many killer riders to be featured.

Movie begins in fall and ends in summer showing all of the four seasons in Finland. Genuine Lapland culture and lifestyle are going to have their own place in this production. Besides Lapland we have chosen other exotic filming locations around the world.
