When: Mon 14th of January 2008
Where: Laax, SwitzerlandMen’s and women’s pipe qualifiers were the order of the day on the Crap Sogn Gion.
The almighty monster pipe hosted the action today and it was the turn of the men and women who were not pre-seeded into the qualifiers proper on Wednesday.
Despite the great and the good of the world’s pipe talent not taking to the semi tube today, there was still more than enough names in the pre-qualifiers (and qualifiers for the women) to ensure that despite another day of bitter wind whipping across the contest site, the solid pipe shreddery kept spectators stoked.
The top 5 from each heat went through for the guys, whereas the top 2 in each will face up to the invited ladies. While it would be tempting to wait for the press release to say who did what, we’ll fess up: we actually went riding powder this morning and spent the afternoon training for Thursday’s Media Minishred contest. Hey, we’re only human. To paraphrase the beardy sandle-wearing dude: let he who’s not blown off work to shred pow cast the first snowball.
But pow or no pow, we’ll offer more comprehensive coverage when we get to the business end of the week and the riding gets mad serious. If you’re wanting the full list of qualified riders, head over to www.opensnowboarding.com where they’ll have all the scores and points and stuff.
Slopestyle qualifiers tomorrow and the crack commandos of slopestyle sharp shooting have just rocked up, so should be a good un. More demain.
