Halldor Helgason wins AK Extreme - Ghetto Edit

03:25PM Mon, 11th April 2011

[UPDATE - Halldor didn't win. Apologies. We blame our non-existant knowledge of the Icelandic language. Gulli Gudmundsson won. Props!]

Iceland’s historic AK Extreme was reborn in Akureyri last weekend with Halldor Helgason, Gulli Gudmundsson and the rest of the Icelandic shred scene throwing down, and the first edit is already in. The only way to describe it is carnage, pure carnage.

If you don’t know what the hell this AK Extreme is, enlighten yourself by reading all about it in our fireside chat with AK Extreme organiser, Geiri. The jump, made of stacked shipping containers, brown snow and surrounded by thousands of eager Icelanders, was as lo-fi as its previous editions, but the riding was nuts. Sure, not much got stomped, but that didn’t stop Halldor Helgason, Gulli Gudmundsson, Viktor Hjartsson and co. from sending it. Halldor eventually won (with a double back 10 we think, not sure if he even landed it but whatever) Gulli eventually won, contrary to our earlier ramblings – we blame being ignorant to the Icelandic lingo – before the riders and crowd sent it at the epic after party.

RESULTS

1st. Gulli. 2nd. Danni. 3rd Halldór.

AKX is Back!

Check the video. As we said, it’s just carnage.
