Watch KBR Productions 'Homework' Full Movie - Plus Interview with Director Petrus Koskinen
This killer Finnish snowboard movie dropped free on the internet a while back, so we hit up director Petrus Koskinen to get the 411 on what Homework, and KBR Productions, is all about…
Starring: Antti Jussila, Niko Länsiö, Petrus Koskinen, Sakari Lähdesmäki, Janne Lipsanen, Elias Veijola, Aleksi Kemiläinen, Ville Väisänen, Roope Koitola, Roope Höynä, Toni Kerkelä
Petrus, can you tell us a little about yourself. What’s your riding/filming background, and what do the letters KBR stand for?
Yeah, I’m Petrus Koskinen, a 20-year-old shredder from Finland. I live in middle Finland – in a place called Jyväskylä. It’s 300 kilometres from Helsinki. I ride for K2, Battery Energy Drink and Spy. I love to ride urban stuff and I definetely want to film each year a videopart with my homies than go to some contests. I’m the second mastermind (with my good friend Toni Kerkelä) of KBR Productions. We kind of put the whole thing together. KBR doesn’t mean anything too official. KBR Productions was called back in the days called “Kobra Crew”, but it sounded too stupid and we changed the name.
You just released your Homework movie. We could not find any sponsor logos or anything. What’s up with that? How did you finance the movie?
We finance our movies from our own pockets and I dont know how we do it every year.
Our photo ed, Sami, always points out awesome Finnish riders who don’t have any sponsors. Any guys in your flick that could do well with a bit of corporate endorsement?
Yeah, the level of riding is so high in Finland so it’s not so easy to get some support for your riding. In fact there are some riders who might need some help with the gear. Ville Väisänen is definetely one of them. Get him some boards!!
There have been quite a few smaller production from Finland this fall, like ‘High Guality’ and ‘Mortal Wombat’. Where do you see your production among Finnish and also European productions – riding-wise, production-wise?
That’s a hard one. I think we have such a good vibe and that’s a thing that all of the crews don’t have. All of our riders and filmers are super motivated to get some shots and push the level each year higher. All of the guys who are part of our movies are proud to film for KBR Productions. And, yeah, I think we have some decent riding and filming too.
And why did you settle on a normal title and not something more in line with the other productions, like ‘Gnome Work’?
Hahah, we thought that now it’s time to publish a movie with a “normal” name. We think it’s better accepted in such places as USA, Canada and middle Europe. In fact originally we thought of naming “Homework” as “HC Riders”. I think it’s better this way, hehe.
How come there are so many Finnish productions these days? Ever thought about joining forces with the other crews and creating a Finnish super-movie?
Yeah, that’s one thing we have on our mind. It would be radical.
What are your crews plans for the coming season? Another movie? What riders will be filming with you? Could you find some sponsors?
We are going to make a new film with the same crew. There may be some new riders and filmers too. I haven’t had time to catch any sponsors for the new production because I’m doing the Finnish Military Service till 7th february 2010. And YES, it sucks soooo bad. If there’s anyone who wants to support our next movie, just contact kbrproductions@gmail.com!
Anything else you’d like our readers to know?
Peace and love! KBR Productions is here to stay!
