Check out the board that defines the word ‘Awesome’.
YES exploded onto the scene last season with a fanfare, thanks to their PMA, their solid team (DCP, Romain, Solberg and Tadashi Fuse) and their solid tech with a simple message: Yes.
For 2010/11 the range they’ve stepped it up offering five models, one of which is this awesome Great Dudes of History. We rode it, it was rad so here’s what we thought:
“Great all-mountain freestyler for anyone but the hard charger. Buttery and fun but solid and dependable. Edge hold was there but you really have to put it in, but if you do it holds well. Would be perfect for pow kickers, natural terrain freestyle or park sessions but also pissing around all over the hill. Maybe a bit loose for 25m aggro wedges.”
They say: The Great Dudes of History is the true all terrain powerhouse series in the Yes range. It utilises some of the most advanced technology available to create a truly mind blowing range of boards. Designed with input from Yes founder and rider Romain DeMarchi its ability to destroy anything the mountain can throw at it makes it the perfect board for those riders looking for the ultimate in all terrain freestyle performance. Built around a super light Poplar/Beech wood core it features Yes’s advanced CamRock construction, the combination of camber and rocker delivers amazing freeride control and response with stunning manoeuvrability and feel. For the ultimate in performance all the GDOH boards feature an asymmetric heelside edge giving a deeper sidecut on the heelside edge to offset the boards natural tendency to reduce the power to the edge on heelside turns. This gives the rider increased control with less effort. Additionally the edges features the superb Ultimate Grip profiling; this carving knife like profiling delivers 3 times the edge bite for 75% of the effort when compared with a standard edged board. The top end construction of the Dudes series is completed with N-Tech custom weave glass structural layers, these are reinforced with carbon stringers to increase snap, pop and deliver a super solid and mega responsive ride. The most talked about board last year truly steps it up and redefines powerful freestyle riding.
They’ve even shipped ‘em early so if this sounds like a board for you this winter, you can buy it now.
