Chimneys, rust, canals, cooling towers, cranes, locomotives, northlight’ roofs and streams running slowly and sickly, oxide-red. I loved these panoramas viewed from a train, especally under a grey sky.On a sunny day some time in 1967 or earlier, we passed Bilston Steelworks slowly. There was some kind of emergency there, with several fire-engines in attendance. Anybody know what had happened?Nick’s photographs are treasures. He is fond of the people that others choose not to celebrate. Bankers are fooled by their money into thinking they matter more. In the last analysis, they do not.
