32/ Etnies snow European Team Updates, February 2008!
Time flies by indeed. It’s already February and there are lots of news from our team boys from Europe. We had good snow, there were a lot of competitions and luckily no injuries.
Danny Larsen is traveling around the globe. After a trip to Austria with the Pirates, Danny is now in the states. First Vegas for SIA and then Montana to shoot with the Pirates. He’s stuck in snowstorms and they were not really lucky with the weather so far. Too much snow. Can you imagine?? Well, we wish we would have that.
Thomas Harstad just got third at the Mathieu Crepel Invitational. Congratulations Thomas. After the Evolution Contest in Davos, Thomas headed back to Norway and enjoyed the great snowconditions up north. Thomas will be filming with the Storbis Crew again this winter.
Jakob Wilhelmson is back on track. After securing 8th place at the MC Invitational he will now be traveling with Per Hampus and Hampus to shoot for their new movie project (Actionhorse).
Miikka Hast is quite a busy traveler as well. After Davos and the European Open he went to Italy for Rock the Spot. After that he was straight off to Marocco for some adventurous snowboarding in Oukaimeden. Sketchy accommodation, high altitude, shepherd villages, scorpions, snakes, mule rides to the lifts and blue bird every day. Most exotic snowboarding trip of his life according to Miikka. Next stop will be Krasnya Polyana, in the south of Russia where Miikka and the rest of the “Northern Scrapebook” crew are hoping to find some of the famous Russian powder.
Matevz Pristavec is back in Slovenia. They got a 2 meter base of snow at “Vogel” his local resort, and Matevz can finally ride his home resort again and enjoys the perfect park there. Matevz also went to Moscow for the FIS Big Air and had a blast on how big everything is in Russia. The biggest snowboard ramp he has ever seen, the big cars, the university and the big city itself.
Nicholas Wolken is back on his board after his bruised kidneys. Nicholas is currently riding in Switzerland waiting for the big dump. It’s Nicholas Birthday February 17th, so happy birthday !!!!
Another busy contest rider is Mario Käppeli. After Davos and the European Open – with a short stop in the hospital cause of a concussion- Mario went to Russia for the WC Big Air where he placed 8th. Mario is currently in Japan for the WC and the Nippon Open.
Remi Lamazouere is back from a very successful trip to Canada. He went shooting with Eric Bergeri and had amazing snow. Next stop for Remi was the Dragon Jib Bunker event in the Pyrenees. After the Crans Montana Champs and some shooting with Vanessa Andrieux, Remi will now head to Russia, Abkhazia, for some filming with Rip Curl.
German rider Simon Schweiger is currently in Japan with his board sponsor on a filming and promotion trip. He enjoys the massive powder and the culture and is really stoked on the trip so far. They went riding around Hirafu and Sapporo and went on to Tokyo to visit some shops. Now they are on their way to Joiitsu Kokosai for a slopestyle contest and then it’s time for some more shooting.
