Okay! For all of you, who have been lost in space! The Ästhetiker Jam-Wängl Tängl will commence in 3 days. I repeat, in three days! Come for a week starting on the 1st, and lasting till the 8th of March to Mayrhofen in the Zillertal valley Tirol, Austria. There awaits a snowboarding contest extraordinaire, a skate comp, various streetart activities, more music than you can handle and, obviously, parties that will knock your socks off! Pictures speak lounder than words, so feast your eyes on these babies!
Mayrhofen is gearing up for the Swatch TTR FIVE(5)STAR Ästhetiker Wängl Tängl taking place March 1st till the 8th, 2008. The Jam format event is packed with skate-inspired action featuring a Slopestyle competition on one of the most unique set ups of freestyle terrain ever constructed. The Ästhetiker are already hard at work getting everything prepared in the Vans Penken Park as riders get ready to compete for the $50 000 USD prize purse, 850 TTR Ranking Points and a brand new Suzuki RM-Z-250 motocross bike.
Booters, booters and…..more booters!
As the next FIVE(5)STAR event on the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour, the Ästhetiker Jam Wängl Tängl is the perfect chance for riders to earn some more highly coveted ranking points. Current TTR World No. 7 Iouri Podladtchikov from Switzerland will be competing and could move up within the TTR Top Ten. Arthur Longo from France, who won the THREE(3)STAR Mathieu Crepel Invitational could also move into the TTR Top 15 with a good result in Mayrhofen.
Jean-Jacque Roux, also from France, will be looking for a place in the Swatch TTR Top 50 at the Wängl Tängl along with Ville Uotila (FIN) and Jaakko Ruha (FIN). Other riders who will no doubt throw down in Mayrhofen include Martin Cernik (CZE), Peter Stroem (SWE), Wolle Nyvelt (AUT), Tonton Holland (SUI), Stefan Gimpl (AUT) and long time competitor Ingemar Backman (SWE).
Two inverted boobs?
The Ästhetiker Jam taps into the roots of snowboarding and the sports that helped define it – skating and surfing. The inspiration for the park set up comes from these sports with the Jam’s focus on defining the most creative and versatile rider, demanding a quick mind and creative flow. On top of the slopestyle session, the event will also feature a skate contest on Friday the 7th, an art exhibition, live music and concerts scheduled throughout the week.
With a three day window for qualifications and the semis and finals taking place on Saturday March 8th, The Ästhetiker Jam Wängl Tängl is set to be an event like no other with a guarantee of good riding and good times. Coming down to the last legs of the Tour, riders still have many chances to earn a great deal of points to get in on the $250 000 end-of-season Swatch TTR prize purse and go for the TTR Championship Title, the recipient being announced at the prestigious SIX(6)STAR Burton US Open. Check out TTR World Tour for video, blog and ranking updates from around the tour, including action from the FIVE(5)STAR Nissan X-Trail Nippon Open going down in Japan this week.
