After the golden days in 1997 and 1998, a very black year for the Air & Style and the whole snowboard community followed in 1999 when six people died in the crowd after the show trying to leave the stadium.

This tragic incident lead to the event moving to a new location after 5 years in Innsbruck, which was found in Seefeld, Tirol.
