In his fourth slopestyle appearance, Norwegian Andreas Wiig beat out four-time defending slopestyle champion Shaun White to grab the 2007 Winter X Games gold. The win brings Wiig’s total number of Winter X Games medals to three including a bronze in 2004 and silver in 2006.

“Winning is just a bonus,” Wiig said. In regards to ex-champ, Shaun White, he continued: “I have all the respect in the world for Shaun but its good for snowboarding that its not just about one person anymore.”

The 25-year old Wiig came into this year’s X Games with momentum having won the silver in the 2006 Winter X Games slopestyle and the 2007 Honda Session slopestyle contest.

Jussi Oksanen, a 27-year old rider from Kirkkonummi, Finland came in third with a solid run after attending the Winter X Games for eight years in a row.

“Everything worked out for me. I just wanted a smooth run and I got it,” said Oksanen. “Andreas [Wiig] has been killing it for so long that he totally deserves the gold.”

Although four-time defending slopestyle champion, Shaun White, gave up the gold to Wiig, the famed 20-year-old redhead from San Diego, Calif. still stood on the podium in third place.
