At Kitzsteinhorn, the offerings for freestylers will be once more extended. After the riders stormed the three new parks last season, even more obstacles will await the riders at the DC Central Park, Roxy Glacier Park and the Easy Park from October. International events like the Roxy Chicken Jam or the finals of the Snowpark Tour will complete the package on the 30,000 square metres area at Europasport-Region Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria.
As last year, the Kitzsteinhorn Mellow Park will be designed and built by Mellow Constructions from Innsbruck, Austria. Thomas “Mellow“ Marsh’s shaper team will also take handle the perfect care of Glacier Park, Central Park and Easy Park. “The Kitzsteinhorn offers everything that freestylers and freeriders want“, Marsh said about the countless possibilities at the Europa-Sportregion Zell am See-Kaprun. “Three parks for all skills, plus endless freeride runs – that’s for sure a class of its own!”
Already from October, riders can rock the jumps and rails of the Roxy Glacier Park on 2,900 m sea level. At the 250-metre-long area, up to 23 obstacles (11 jumps, 12 rails & boxes) will be built to delight riders of all skills.
At the DC Central Park near Sonnenkarbahn (2,600 m sea level), up to five lines with 30 obstacles will be erected from prospectively end of November. With 15 different jumps and 15 varied rails and boxes the Central Park will sport everything intermediates and pros want. The new highlights are a 20-metre fun box, a 15-metre-long and 3-metre-wide A-box, an Elephant Rail, a new Down Rail and a Park Cliff. And all slopestyle beginners can practise their first tricks at the Easy Park with its eight jumps and four rails.
Considering this huge choice for freestylers it’s no wonder that high-level events will be held at the Kitzsteinhorn, too: On March 15 and 16 2008, the finals of the Snowpark Tour will take place at the Central Park – including a party at the legendary Kaprun Castle. And as last year, the world’s best snowboard girls will gather to the Roxy Chicken Jam at the Glacier Park on December 14 to 16 2007 to identify the best of the best at this 6-star event of the Ticket To Ride Women’s Snowboard Tour.
From October 01 2007, the new website snowpark.kitzsteinhorn.at will supply riders with all news about the current state of the park. In addition, there’s interactive maps of the parks with facts and pictures of the obstacles as well as news and pictures delivered directly by the shapers. Park videos and information on events, weather forecast and ticket prices complete the website.
By the way: if you prefer to build your kicker at the backcountry or to surf the powder you will also find fine places at Kitzsteinhorn, especially at Magnetkoepfl and Langwied. These runs with many chutes, powder lines, cliffs and natural pipes are nothing but a paradise for all freestyle-oriented freeriders.
