Rip Curl Seafun Invitational
A rapid revision to the TTR World Snowboard Tour this week confirms the addition of men’s slopestyle event TTR 3 Star Rip Curl Seafun Invitational in Sweden, just as Finland’s all-women TTR Four Star Cat Fight announces its cancellation.
Sweden is finally back on the Men’s TTR Calendar with the Rip Curl Seafun Invitational presented by DVS & Matix, which has just been awarded TTR 3-Star status. The Slopestyle format contest will take place in Kungsberget between 16-18th February, 2007, offering 8000 Euros in prize money.
Now in its 7th year, the Rip Curl Seafun Invitational presents a 45-rider final, based on invited and quali spots from Europe’s top snowboarders, to session the rail-ravaged slopestyle park, and gain up to 550 TTR Ranking Points. 4000m3 of snow and tons of rails have been shaped in to a huge arena by Swedish shaper Jonas Lodin. He says: “We worked hard every year to create a bigger and better park and this year is no exception, the plans look awesome and the riders will for sure enjoy a fun and exciting park.”
“We are super stoked to be able to work with TTR and the goal is to create a fun and relaxed event that the riders will love. Perhaps there will be more TTR events up in Sweden in the future as TTR pushes the sport of snowboarding in the right direction,’” said Jonas Nilsson, Marketing Manager for Rip Curl Sweden.
Of course the event will end with a huge party at Hangloose Bar in downtown Gävle in true Rip Curl Seafun Invitational spirit – don’t miss that one!

On a different note, the Women’s TTR Calendar suffers another loss in Scandanavia as organizers declare TTR 4 Star event Cat Fight cancelled due to lack of sponsorship. The all-girl slopestyle contest, due to take place 11th-14th April 07 in Ruka, Finland, aims to return at a yet-to-be-announced date in 2008.
