Scalp walks us month-by-month through his highlights of 2007.
November 2007
December 2007 - ...Then the first freshie sprays at home with Aymeric Tonin and Stéphane Routin on Les Arcs's opening day... Sssssiick!
October 2007 - I'm in the APO office shooting the intro page for their next year's catalogue with their three young guns: French-Canadian Matt Daneau; Frenchie lady Caroline Belliard and the new recruit, Arthur Longo, also from France. Somebody heard about Regis Rolland being held hostage appearing in the frame... Check it out early February on the APO web site. Definitely worth a look!
January 2007
September 2007 - Guess what photographers do during their holidays? Why not shooting a bit of skating in Paris with my long time friend and model, French pro skater Marc Haziza. Hope you don't mind if I keep the shots of my girlfriend private!
February 2007 - ...before I had to pack my bags and head to Russia with the Pirates – Marco Feichtner, Mone Monsberger, Dmitri Fesenko and Hannes Metzler – for a 2 week trip.
April 2007 - Spend a short time at home to work with my buddies from Les Arcs for the No-Pro story to be seen in this month’s issue...
March 2007 - By March I'm back in western Europe – more specifically Leysin, Switzerland – for the Billabong Pro Freestyle where the APO team kills it. Canadian Franck April wins the contest and Valérian Ducourtil wins the Tristan Picot memorial for best rookie. Regis is stoked!
April 2007 - ..., then I head east to Montafon, Austria in order to try to finalize Mr Feichtner’s interview. As it turns out the snow conditions have turned to shit and won't allow us more than one really good session so, unfortunately, the interview will be delayed. Get some sick stuff anyway, like this insane frontside tailpress!
May 2007 - I know most of you think a winter season ends in April, but come the first of May I'm in a plane flyin' up north to Rikgränsen to meet the Yeahh Production crew (Morgan Lefaucheur, Iker Fernandez, Tyler Chorlton and Miss Cheryl Maas) for a two-week shoot. A great trip, even if the snow was a bit weird.
November 2007 - The first dumps in Europe arrive but I'm on my way to the seaside in Spain and Portugal for the insane rail/jib tour organised by Red Bull: The Drive-By...
August 2007 - I come up with a funny idea after looking in my wardrobe and luckily finding a nice all-white outfit from his sponsor... The tomato shot is ready to go!
January 2007 - In January I was in France trying to get something good done with the little snow there was. I met the Pirate Park crew in Les Arcs who’d built their own li’l playground far away from the official one... Brought some pros there for fun and we got it!
August 2007
September 2007
July 2007 - The rumour is growing fast. With this crazy rainy mid-season, there's heaps of snow in Norway and the place is picked by Nitro for their summer shoot. I land in Bergen the 7th of July for an insane week in Folgefonna with almost no sun during the days, but unreal conditions at night when the wind finally cleared the sky between 20H00 till night (at approx 03H30... in the morning!) The midnight sunsets are worth their reputation and I'm stoked to finally discover the secret of the infamous Scandi photographers’ pics I’ve seen over the last 10 years in the world's mags. Those lucky bastards have the most insane skies I've ever seen, isn't it Beckna? (pic taken at 02H30, definitely worth staying awake..!)
November 2007 - Riders Max Legendre, Alex Cantin, Hans Ahlund, Kareem el Rafie, Beni Wetscher, Wojtek Pawlusiak and Adan Baserba will kill it for 2 weeks on the Red Bull Drive By, riding the most unexpected places we could find. Full report in the last OB issue of the season and on redbulldriveby.com.
April 2007
January 2007 - Oh, by the way. I also met Gary Zebrowski and the French slippery hot dog, Mat Crepel, for a pipe session in Laax…
February 2007 - Started the month with O’Neill Pro Freestyle in Avoriaz. I just had enough time to watch Arthur Longo kill it...
February 2007
March 2007 - Just have time to stop home and change gear, and then it's the Onboard/Nitro week in Val d'Isère. Sick spot, sick snow and siiick shots. My favorite is not chosen by the photo contest jury but now you have a chance to see it... A river gap by Mr Markus Keller
May 2007
June 2007 - Season's over now so it's time to drive to Munich for the annual Onboard end-of-season editorial meeting. On the way back, it's the shoot for the Yeahh movie intro in Zürich.
June 2007 - Three funky days of interviews, studio shots, parties and Creager's sick paintings... Yeeeeaaaah. It's so cool to see Chris Kröll back on his feet after his horrible knee injury that occurred in Canada during the shooting in February, if my memory is correct.
December 2007 - Unreal... I'm just coming back home and it's snowing heavily. A first dump of almost a meter, then another 1.5m the next week. The resort's still not open and we're diving in powder... Unbelievable! Time to start the warm-up sessions. First a sick jib one in Tignes with Arthur Giraud and Nico Droz...
August 2007 - I'm home and after a short phone call from Danny (my dear editor in chief) I catch Mr Bourbousson in extremis before his departure to Chile in order to shoot the intro page for his interview...
