Last season was the first year that Analog dropped the Design Unlikely Features on the shores of Europe. After a host of imaginative entries had been judged by the AG crew, their team riders and us at Onboard, Sylvain Vidal’s effort ‘The Stairs’ was selected as the winner and was jetted over to France to see his creation constructed and installed in the Avoriaz snowpark where it was sessioned like hell by the local crew in a mellow jam contest.

This year it’s back. From October 15 2011 – January 15 2012, you’ll be able to submit your designs to www.analogclothing.com/duf3/eu Creativity, buildability and rideability are key once more, and the winner will get the VIP treatment when the DUF jam goes down in Hammerbybacken, Sweden on February 18 2012.

Peep the highlights from last year’s jam, let your imagination loose and it could be your creation the crew are shredding on this winter.

As you’ll know, Analog ran a pretty darn awesome contest this winter – Design Unlikely Features. The deal was that Joe Public were offered up the chance to design the park obstacle of their dreams, with whichever one the Analog crew deemed to be the best being made up in real life to be shredded the hell out of in Avoriaz.

After some sick entries, Sylvain Vidal’s skate-inspired stairset got the nod and on March 19 it was unveiled in the Avoriaz park for an am session/throwdown/brodown with plenty of good times to be had and free shit to be nabbed. Even the weather couldn’t put a dampener on the fun as a good crew of locals rocked up to throw their carcasses off Sylvain’s creation.

19th March saw the Analog crew descend on Avoriaz for the Design Unlikely Features contest on the winning DUF obstacle. Check what went down…

As you’ll know, Analog’s Design Unlikey Features contest offered you guys the chance to submit your most creative park obstacle designs, with one being chosen to be made up in real life and sessioned the hell out of in the Avoriaz park. Sylvain Vidal’s The Stairs feature was the winner, and after it was unveiled a fun session went down on it. Here’s how it unfolded.

Although the event started late due to heavy snowfall kicking back the unveiling of the winning feature (‘The Stairs’ by Sylvain Vidal) to around eleven on Saturday morning, there was a solid turnout of locals with around 30 participants subscribing to enter the contest.

‘The Stairs’ consisted in a gap to stairs, a pole jam, a double flat rail and also included a wall on one side, meaning there was heaps of possibilities to shred the shit out of it on the Chapelle park. And even better is this sick feature will stay in Avoriaz for everyone to enjoy for the rest of the season.

Sylvain, the winner of the design contest, was pretty stoked the night before to enter his room in Avoriaz and discover that not only had Analog offered him a whole weekend at the resort, they’d also filled his room up with Analog gear. and upon seeing his creation for the first time with everybody else, he was pretty stoked how the module came out.

Entering the contest alongside a good bunch of locals – both French and British – Sylvain also proved that he had what it takes to actually throw it down on his own design. Under pretty much continuous snowfall, the 30ish riders sessionned for a good hour-and-half to finally get cut to the best 8, including THE girl of the contest, Yvonne Priest, and hard slammer/attempter Ben Francis.

That’s when Droz and Mamar, locals and international legends decided to give the feature a seeing to, for the pleasure of the crowd. Judges and pro Analog riders Nils Shack and Kike Carcelen also enjoyed it while an injured – and gutted – Wojtek was reduced to the role of photographer.

After twenty minutes of finals, it was getting clear that Jeremy Dunant was killing it, especially with his über stylish Frontbards 270s and Pole to FS 3 nosebone. Second positions, his mate Mikael De Rose, pretty close with some sick Blunt 270s. Then in a tie 3rd, Sean Temelty (Nosepress revert back) and Marc Andre Seguin ‘Mr Tight Pants’. Alexandre Paré closing the prize giving ceremony with damn nice fronboards.

Thanks to Sylvain for designer such a ill feature, to Avoriaz and Jean-No for the welcome, and Grego from Analog for being an amped organizer and MC, and also, for putting us in the pimpest flat you can imagine. By the way, I’m heading to our private sauna with a view right now. That should wake us up for the after event party in The Place, with a live act fro Parisian rock band Ed-Äke.

If you’re in the area and want a pop, you gotta sign up at 09.30 and not only will you be able to send it on the stairset, there’s plenty of stuff to be won and a BBQ to feed your stoke. There’s also going to be a demo from Analog’s Euro team – Wojtek Pawlusiak, Ludwig Leijkner, Neils Shack and Kike Carcelen – that’ll get you pumped, and when all’s said and done there is, of course, an after party at The Place, kicking off at 22.00.

During ispo we had Greg Poissonnier of Analog Europe fame run us through the 2012 line and give us the lowdown on highlight pieces like the Danny Davis Signature jacket and pants, the super-tech Bounty jacket, the rad Summit Denim, and their best sellers, the Asset jacket and pant. As you can guess in the video they have a lot more of banging products so make sure to go to your local snowboard shop and check out more of their upcoming outerwear range. Please apologise the terrible sound quality, but we are too cheap to invest in proper film equipment. We hope the products will speak for themselves. Oh, and Greg of course, who used to be a French snowboarding force to reckon with.

Just as an fyi these guys make some fine streetwear pieces, t-shirts and boardshorts, too, the latter of which will make you stand out from all those Quikbong lunatics in the lineup. They won’t make you surf better, and the Analog outerwear won’t improve your snowboarding, but they will turn up the style to eleven. Trust us on that one!

After several months and a bunch of awesome submissions, Sylvain Vidal from Paris, France, wins a trip to Avoriaz (and heaps of other goodness) for his jib design, ‘The Stairs’.

Analog’s first European Design Unlikely Features Contest invited participants to create a unique, custom-built jib feature. We received a ton of submissions for this first edition, it was impressive to have an insight into the imagination of young euro shredders, and some ideas were pretty off the hook (the Wang of Destiny???). Entries were judged based on creativity, ride-ability, and build-ability. We looked for something fresh and imaginative, and that was also movable.

Sylvain Vidal from Paris, France, caught our attention with his street style approach obstacle which allows many tricks and lines variations. Sylvain will have his dream creation built and Analog will bring him out for the weekend to the Design Unlikely Features Europe Contest on March 19th, 2011. Avoriaz 1800 will host the event where he can participate in the first ever contest on his winning feature (of course there’s no pressure to compete it’s optional). In addition, Sylvain will receive:
