A little over a week ago Alex Tank, with help from his homies at Head Snowboards, Arnette Eyewear and the resort of Oberjoch, laid down the fourth edition of the Head Jib Factory. 20 grade-A jibbers hit up the biggest setup the session’s ever had and the result was some steller stunt sledging. Could there be a better ending for the winter season than hanging out with all your friends having a sick session, BBQ and a DJ for the perfect sound? That’s exactly what happened on April 16th and 17th at Oberjoch in Germany, where the fourth Head Jib Factory by Alex Tank & Arnette went down. 20 invited riders from all over the world came to the Allgäu to ride the brand new setup which was the biggest one the Jib Factory has seen so far.

As always, the goal was to get creative and to have as much fun as possible. To make that even easier, a new accommodation was chosen, all riders stayed in a typical Bavarian hut right next to the setup. So everybody could start and finish his session whenever he wanted and ride home on his snowboard. Some heavy tricks have been thrown down; naming them all would take way too much time, so you better check out the official Jib Factory edit.

On both days the riders played the “Game of Out” on the Arnette granite ledge. As we knew from previous years, this takes some time because almost every rider was able to do every trick – hence it was decided to turn it into a team competition. Every team had two riders and could decide by themselves who had to do the trick.

At the end only team Innsbruck (Raffael Kossmann and Tobi Hartmuth) and Team Mustachio (Eirik Nesse and Kas Lemmens) were left. After playing for more than two hours they decided for a tie and split the prize money of 500 €. Kas Lemmens was the most outstanding rider for sure, not only that he always was the first rider hitting the setup and the last one to leave, he also landed pretty much everything he tried. So it was no surprise that he was voted Best Rider Overall and cashed out 1000€ on top of the team event.

The decision for Best Trick was way harder because Eirik and Kas stomped some really hard tricks. At the end Kas Lemmens BS 270 Hardway to Fakie at the stair set got the most votes. Boom, another 500 € for Kas.

To finish things off, the Atagge Highest Ollie contest took place. Everybody could join this session, no matter if filmer, shaper, DJ… At the end the host Alex Tank himself took home the wander trophy with a winning height of 95 centimeters. We had two awesome days at Oberjoch, thanks to all people involved.

The 3rd and final Chosen Session put the AMs back on familiar Chosen Series winning territory with a straight out kicker session.

The perfectly shaped 20m Kicker got a proper working as the AMs stepped up and mixed in with the Nike team, digging deep into their bags and pulling out some of the best AM riding seen all week.

Nike Chosen Sessions: Practice Day: Felix Georgii

SUNDAY

On Sunday, twelve winning AMs from the Chosen Series and the 3 winning crews from the Video Chosen stepped into the incredible Nike Chosen park for the first time for a practice day.

“The park is so sick, it’s all new stuff, none of it’s ever happened in a park before and today I was just trying to work it out.” If by work it out you mean a 450 onto a down bar over a huge rock then Jamie Nicholls is doing ok… Andy Nudds

Nike Chosen Sessions: A subtle 200-ft Nike Swoosh

The video crews were like kids in a candy store hitting up the top section rails. Blaze Kotsenburg from This Must Be The Place seemed suitably stoked, “Today was awesome, a good day and we got more footage than we expected, the park is so so good, we’re looking to make a pretty straight up snowboard edit which I can’t go into too much, but we’re definitely serious about it!”

And the AMs? “Tomorrow I’m looking forward to putting down a line, something like rail, rail, jump, jump, boom, boom,” said Jorn Simmen Aaboe, the Series winner from Norway. ‘Nuff said!

MONDAY

Best Line Session: Peetu Piiroinen going fucking big

Monday was the Best Line Session at Silvretta Montafon for the Nike Chosen Sessions.

The 1st day of the Sessions was all about followcam action for the AM riders as they hit up the top jib line before opting for either Wall ride features into the pipes or the kicker line.

Stephan Wimmer, the Austrian Series winner, decided to ride out of his comfort zone and make full use of the Park “We have so many opportunities here, so many things to get in our run, it’s easy to pick your line, but harder to get every trick!”

Best Line Session: Joel Anderson getting filmed

Keeping the other video crews guessing, the RockOnSB crew from Germany switched from their Vampire-esque Twilight spin-off edit that won them their place at the Sessions, for a retro 80′s Neon costume change as they assaulted the various stair sets with rail mayhem and haircut disasters….

With more of the Nike team showing up today to join the party Ethan Morgan ran us through the last two days “First day was cruising around, checking out the park and taking it mellow. Today really happened for sure, jumps, rails, everything was getting hit, it was great to watch and be a part of it, the weather came out as well and now we’re looking forward to the Bowl Session tomorrow, not much to complain about!”

You’ve probably read what went down already in our earlier post, but in brief there was a solid display of shredding from the UK riders who rolled up to Hemel Hempsted to tackle the 13m indoor booter. Sam Cullum nabbed the Best Style award, Angus Leith the Most Creative Rider, but it was Andy Nudds who bagged himself the first spot at the end-of-season session with the Nike team for being a bit bloody good. Neat front 10, son.

Andy Nuddy bossing shit.

The first stop of Nike’s Chosen Series tour went down the other day in the UK, with Andy Nudds bagging the win and the first invite to the end-of-season Nike Chosen Session.

The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead provided the UK’s biggest Kicker of the year measuring a lofty 13m to the sweet spot. The 10-man final hosted by Nike rider Jamie Nicholls provided a level of riding not seen before in the UK indoors. With double front flips, rodeos and 7s on show it was up to Andy Nudds to close down the night with a huge Frontside 1080, a remarkable first for a UK indoor slope.

Andy’s win will guarantee an invite to the Nike Chosen Sessions held at an undisclosed location in the beginning of April. He will be joined by a further 8 tour stop winners from the remaining Nike Chosen Series events taking place throughout Europe this winter.

The Nike Chosen Sessions will give AM riders the opportunity to step up their game by sessioning with the Nike Pro team on an exclusive purpose built park.
