Head Snowboards deemed it about time to host another Head Jib Factory by Alex Tank & Arnette event. Once again, a select crew of some of the finest rail riders will gather in a secret location to shred the shit out of an all-new jib setup. The whole shebang goes down on 10/11 April 2012, and you could take part in it, too! How you can score one of the two wildcards? Arnette Goggles ran a video contest last season to uncover some of the most promising rookie riders in Europe. The winners from the different countries not only won a bunch of swag and support for the upcoming season, they also netted a roadtrip across the glaciers of the continent this fall. This video shows what went down…

What a crew – five of the lucky winners of the Arnette ALL EYES ON ME Snow Rookie Project 2011, filmer Felix Urbauer and photographer Lorenz Holder gathered in beautiful Saas Fee late at night in the beginning of October. Earlier this year Thomas Kigle (GER), Gregor Betschon (CH), Louis Labertrande (F) Marius Bakken (NO), Andreas Grong (NO) and Roland Hörtnagl (A) applied with their own videos to take part in the project and ended up in the top five of the participating countries Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Norway. In the end, each of them won Arnette product support for the upcoming season 2011/2012 along with this road trip through some of the Alps’ hotspots.

The set-up was perfect that Friday night in Saas Fee. Motivation and excitement to start off a ten day road trip couldn’t have been higher. Nobody knew that there were three down days full of weather antics to outlive. We’ve been told that the Saas Fee Glacier hadn’t been closed for so many days in a row in the last two decades. However, weather is what you have to deal with when you want to go snowboarding.

But Arnette wouldn’t be Arnette if they didn’t make the most fun out of it – no matter what it is. Of course they found some fun alternatives like skateboarding, racing go-carts, summer sledding or playing golf in the beautiful surroundings of Saas Fee. And finally, on the fourth day, the glacier opened and the rookies could show their skills in the park.

Later that day the trip went on and the crew stopped at one of the coolest playgrounds Europe has to offer: The Freestyle Academy in Laax. Time to pull some crazy tricks into the foam pit, do some trampolining or skate the academy’s lovely bowl. Also Arnette team rider Alex Tank joined the crew that night to stay for the rest of the tour , which was quite entertaining and inspiring for everyone.

Leaving Laax behind, the tour buses headed for the last stop of the trip at the Kaunertal Glacier. A perfectly shaped park waited to be checked out. After shooting some artsy pictures due to foggy conditions on the first day, the next two days turned out to be perfectly sunny and everyone was happy, enjoying loads of laps in the park and the obligatory last-night-of-the-trip-party to the fullest.

All in all, the trip was a great experience for the rookies and they returned home with their first professional photos and video footage.

Arnette’s search for the best rookies in Europe has come to an end and the lucky ones have been judged and put to the acid test already.

140 days after the launch of the ALL EYES ON ME 2011, the new Arnette rookies have been chosen. From more than 60 applications the best five of each country (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Norway) were invited to finals. So welcome Marius Bakken (NO), Andreas Grong (NO), Thomas Kigle (GER), Roland Hörtnagl (AUT), Gregor Betschon (CH) and Louis Labertrande (F) to the Arnette family. Congrats!

One week left to get a sponsoring deal with Arnette and go on a snowboard trip of a lifetime!

Arnette is looking for promising young guns in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Norway and the search for talented rookies is still on until May 31st 2011!

And all you have to do for that is: have fun! So get going, be creative and show us that snowboarding isn’t just one of your hobbies but your favorite! Capture that on video camera, upload it and…well…that’s it.

There are just two tiny details: no matter if you are a boy or a girl you just have to be not older than 20 years and you should not have a goggle sponsor. Get that right and almost nothing should stand in the way to your big snowboarding career. Apart from a professional jury who will firstly select the top five rookies of each country. Then it’s back to the roots of democracy where you have to face an international online voting on facebook. The rookie of each country who receives the most „likes“ wins.

Besides a massive product support from Arnette for season 2011/12, the five winning rookies will go on a 10-day team trip with the Arnette Pros. All the awesome riding and the tons of fun in great company will be filmed and then edited on your very own trip video. Of course there will be also a photographer who might just get THE shot of you that gets you into your favorite magazine.
