Here it is. The one you’ve been waiting for… drum roll please… the Onboard crew’s number 1 favourite online snowboard video part posted in the year 2011 iiiiis… John Jackson’s part from Forum’s F’ It. *APPLAUSE* Watch it now.

After a bunch of stoke and swearing we’ve arrived at what our scientific analysis* of a host of online snowboard full movie parts has determined is the best one posted in the last calendar year. Sure, it’s from a movie that dropped in 2010 but this is about online, baby, and in 2011 you’d have to be an expert in mass debating to argue there’s one better than this bad boy been dropped on the nets.

It’s New Year’s Eve, you’re getting ready to party, so enjoy those pre-bar pints while watching what in our considered opinion was the second most awesome part posted online in the last calendar year. Take a bow, Scott Stevens. Get involved.

This dude’s shredding just touches our special place. What more can we say? While we might agree that much of Scott’s riding isn’t as balls-out gnarly as some in the lower-placed video parts, we decided to determine this Top 10 on pure stoke alone*. And when it comes to stoke, Stevens’ unique, Mullen-esque approach to snowboarding and the creativity it’s possible to achieve when strapped in was only two Fuck Yeah!s off the top spot.

Best Full Online Parts of 2011 – Number 3

Our countdown of the sickest full online parts posted in 2011 continues with what we decided should be awarded the bronze medal – it’s Halldor Helgason’s part from Hooked. Can you say ‘all-terrain assault’?.

Of course, the Pirates released Hooked to a frothing public in Fall 2010, but it was only in February 2011 that us workshy slackers got to waste time on the boss’s dime having our brains blown by Halldor Helgason‘s amazingly well-rounded part. The kid’s rail riding is so tech and so burly you’d need a manual to work out half his hammers and he’s not shy of sending it off shityerpants park hits or stomping doubles into pow either. This is arguably the most well-rounded part in our Top 10, but the patented Fuck Yeah!* scoring system saw him come out in third place.

Jake Blauvelt’s awesome definition of the pinnacle of natural terrain freestyle snowboarding lands him the fourth spot in our Top 10 Online Parts posted in 2011. It’s a banger. Watch it.

Rather than produce a regular video part again, last season Jake Blauvelt decided he’d focus his energies on filming for an online doco-flavoured web series, Naturally, which would chart his season and the sessions he had with friends across the globe. The best of the action shots from the various episodes were extracted and edited together to produce this full-on bangfest, which landed him in fourth place according to the Fuck Yeah!-ometer*. Here’s a challenge for ya: count the number of old-fashioned cheese wedge booters in this clip…

Best Full Online Parts of 2011 – Number 5

Though in Absinthe’s twe12ve Bode Merrill’s full part is a 2-tune bangfest – one backcountry, one urban – in the online world we’ve only been treated to the urban one. It’s so sick that even with the pow missing it still made Number 5 in our list of the best full parts posted in 2011. Check it.

We can tell you this for nothing: had Absinthe released Bode’s full full part, passing sailors would have blushed at the avalanche of Fuck Yeah!’s* spewing forth from the Onboard office. As it is, he ends up in 5th place in our considered evaluation of the best full parts posted online in 2011 which, really, deserves an award of its own. Heavy.

At Number 6 in our rundown of the best full parts posted online in 2011 is Eric Jackson with this part put together by his sponsor, Lib Tech. The guy goes SO big…

… and has epic style to complement his propensity for sending it to the moon. The guy’s riding in this part is even more impressive than that beard which, let’s be honest, is frickin’ awesome. This part has Eric’s first ever front double cork 10, stomped first try, into fresh tracks, and then an assortment of megaladon backcountry hits that’ll leave you reeling – including what must be a good contender for the best front 3 ever. And those frontside pow slash turns? The Germanic speakers would say, ja bitte! but us here just shouted Fuck Yeah!*

Our countdown continues with this shazammer from Finnish style warlock Lauri Heiskari, who’s efforts for DC’s web series This Is Snowboarding caused us to utter enough to land him in 7th place in our list of online parts of the year.

Lauri Heiskari is such a well-rounded rider: Backcountry booters, concrete ledges – you name it: he hits it. His part in the People movie, Cheers, is awesome, and so is this remix by his sponsor, DC.

Best Full Online Parts of 2011 – Number 8

In 2011, no girl delivered a better online video part than Dutch ripper Cheryl Maas. What made us think so? She charges all kinds of terrain, has great style, and laid down doubles, which are a very rare feat in female snowboarding. Watch her part.

All last winter, Cheryl filmed for her own web show Open Air. At the end of it, she not only had enough footage for a full-on video part, it also blew all female competition out of the water. And quite frankly, some of the guys, too. Our Fuck Yeah’s were evenly distributed over her backcountry skills, her rail efforts, and her park laps. Good stuff from start to finish.

Oh, and if we didn’t say it to you already, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Our full online parts countdown continues with Eero Ettala’s appearance in Euro Gap 3, one of our favourite movies from last season. Style, versatility, Finnish humour: a must watch by all means.

Eero Ettala was instrumental in not only bringing back the Euro Gap flavour for one last dance, he also scored one of the movie’s best parts, showing off his circular skills from downtown to the park to the BC. Hell, he was so stoked on the project he even went full chimp and got naked. Yep, the film came out in 2010 but Eero only got around to releasing his part from it in October 2011. This scored him 23 Fuck Yeahs* and rank 9 in the best online video parts of the year.

The internet is an ephemeral affair. While we all enjoy a good snowboard clip on the web, next minute it is all but forgotten. However, 2011 was the year of online video parts, and we decided to present you this countdown of the 10 best full online parts of 2011, starting with Marie-France Roy’s re-edited part from Rome Snowboards’ The Shred Remains.

We arrived at our top 10 list by using a complex scientific calculation method to determine the quality of these clips. Every time something stoked us out we had to exclaim ‘Fuck Yeah!’. It could be a triple cork, it could be some rail dancing, it could be a face shot, it could be some editing, but once uttered it was scrawled down and added up at the end. The part with the most ‘Fuck Yeah!’s won.

It must be noted that we also made the decision to include any full part posted on the internet in the calendar year 2011, regardless of if the movie they were from came out that year or not. It must also be said that while the internet never sleeps we, from time to time, must and so we had to prepare this a little in advance – we watched the clips on December 8 – hence anything after wasn’t subject to our sweary scoring system.

And with 22 ‘Fuck Yeahs’ for her riding in this part, MFR made our top 10 with ease. From pillow lines to multi-kinks the Quebecoise shows once again why she has bagged multiple Rider of the Year awards and is considered one of the most versatile female riders out there.
