A private season end session has long been high on the Onboard Crew’s wish list and yet the lack of an appropriate partner had until now kept it as just that, a wish. Then out of a smoking lamp came Kitzsteinhorn and their genie Stefan Plattner and with the wave of a long handled shaping spade The Onboard & Kitzsteinhorn Send Off Sessions were born.

While news about Japan are missing out in mass media by now this Pirate Log is reminding you of what happened last March. It was not an easy situation for our crew to cope with this catastrophe but it is not even coming close to what our friends and their families are still facing in Japan.

Yeah, if you ever lose any body part you’d want Hans Ahlund around. His quick-thinking saved their buddy Lil’Eric from having a shorter-than-usual finger for the rest of his days. Gore aside, there’s some killer jibbing in this latest Pirate Log from the shooting of Bottom Line…

After 10 years of making snowboard movies, the Pirates crew mix it up for 2011! This year’s project is called Bottom Line and is shot in 16:9. Some things never change though: once more it’s going to be all about showcasing the best of Euro shred, bringing you creative urban riding as well as mad back country slaughtering, all with a creative aesthetic.

Bottom Line will be available on DVD that comes lovingly wrapped in a 100 page artBook from good shred stores, and also available to download from iTunes in October. Check out the premiere dates for a screening near you!

Check out the shredding that went down when we were shooting a Spotcheck for next season with Björn and Steve, and a li’l bit of radness from the swarm of Quiksilver riders who descended on the park for their own shoot once the light got proper porno. Ulrik Badertscher smashed the granny out the booter, Teo Konttinen did one of our favourite front 7s ever, and as for Viktor Temoryev on the hip… Jesus.

Pirates Week winds down with the final three installments of their webisodes.

Aaaaaargh! It’s been a fun week of Pirating but as Yoda or the dude from the Karate Kid might say: ‘all good things must end, grasshopper.’  For the last day of Pirate Week we’ve got Sani Alibabic scrubbing one of his 9 lives as he’s buried by and avalanche in Austria, Hans Ahlund tackling a sweet roof gap/drop in Umeå, and Marco Feichtner and Bjorn Hartweger staying in the Krippenstein Lodge and scoring bluebird pow pow.

We’ll be swinging our eye back on the Pirates as soon as the teaser for their new shred skinflick, Hooked, drops in a couple of weeks where we’ll showcase that bad boy and also have an interview with Captain of the Pirate ship, Basti Balser. Till then, keep them timbers shivvering and drink more rum.
