‘Sleeping Giants’ to Start Premiere Tour in Beijing this October

Sleeping Giants, a documentary on snowboarding in China produced by Blickinsfreie, is the world’s first crowdfunded snowboard documentary. So get involved with making it happen and get your asses to one of the many premiere tour stops this fall…

Have you ever heard about crowdfunding? No!? Well, Sleeping Giants is world’s first snowboard movie which is partly realized by its own fans: you! The teaser is finished but there is still a lack of budget for the post-production to fill. Fans can choose various kinds of support and get interesting rewards for their donation.

So don’t wait, support the project with, for example, 5 Euros and get the movie as high definition download delivered as Christmas present earlier than regular non-backers will be able to watch it.

It happened more or less by accident when filmmaker René Eckert (www.blickinsfreie.de) decided to create a new snowboard documentary in 2011. With the unique chance to visit China, Eckert decided to use that opportunity to realize Blickinsfreie’s new masterpiece. The movie is presented by our long term partner Ripzone Europe (www.ripzone-europe.de).

After movies like From Romania with Love or last year’s highlight At Equilibrium the new movie deals with the development of snowboarding in China. The documentary focuses on the passion-driven Chinese shredders and the key role of the Nanshan Open snowboard competition which has driven the young Chinese scene to become one of the most progressive out there.

Besides Chinese stars including Wang Lei and He Wei, legends such as Travis Parker and Risto Mattila join shooting stars Nils Arvidsson, Marc Swoboda and Werni Stock to give a deep insight into the snowboard culture of the Far East.

World Tour 2012

Like in the last years a world wide premiere tour is about to kick off which is followed by the High Definition Download of the movie around Christmas time.

The world premiere takes place the 15th October in Beijing followed by more than 20 premieres until the final screening at ISPO 2012 in Münich. Of course various DJs and live acts make the afterparties to highlights as well.

Blickinsfreie on the Hunt for Filming Interns

German Film company Blickinsfreie, the guys responsible for doco-flavoured shred flicks like At Equilibrium and the upcoming Sleeping Giants, are looking for an intern. If you know your way around Final Cut and a video camera then check it out…

For those of you who don’t know this is the kind of thing Rene Eckert of Blickinsfreie does…

And this is what Rene’s got to say about the internship:

“We are looking for an intern for Blickinsfreie in the field of filmmaking (filming & post production) from 1st October – End of March. The intern will get paid, will travel, will be based with the crew in Leipzig and will have a great time.

“People that are skilled in Final Cut post production as well as in handling cameras in winter conditions and having a good eye should send me an email by July 5 2011 to info@blickinsfreie.de”

Unfortunately, you need to be bro down with him on Facebook to watch the trailer, which is kind of unfortunate for a snowboard website like us. However, it is quite an innovative concept. At Equilibrium – Full Movie

As the editorial crew of a snowboard magazine we are naturally drawn to projects that set out to explore hardly known snowboard scenes. Blickinsfreie, a German production company, time and again prove that they know how to make snowboard flicks (literally) off the beaten track. At Equilibrium is their latest work and it is all about snowboarding in Bulgaria. If this doesn’t sound intriguing enough there’s riding from Marc Swoboda, Gigi Rüf and Danny Larsen in it!

AT EQUILIBRIUM presented by RIPZONE EUROPE and BIGAIRBAG is the newest treasure of Blickinsfreie’s eastern European snowboard documentaries.

After “Poland – A snowboard documentary”, “Slovaki A true movie about snowboarding” and last years highlight “From Romania with Love” this documentary deals with the passionate people developing snowboarding in Bulgaria. Each one of those movies has it’s own direction, it’s own heroes who may not necessarily be known to a larger audience but that all creates our common history. AT EQUILIBRIUM makes clear that we are all one big family with every little part worth to get to know.

Already the movie title says everything. The people representing the local scene are just unbelievable balanced and real which makes this movie undoubtful to the highlight of the series.

This years flick is featuring riders from more than 7 different countries including big names MARC SWOBODA, DAREK BERGMANN, GIGI RÜF, DANNY LARSEN or THOMAS FRANC. Merging that many different cultures, languages as well as riding levels has never been more interesting before.
