A bunch of Dakine’s band of shredders made their annual pilgrimage Mt Baker for the Legendary  Banked Slalom and they made a rad edit from their time there. If you don’t know what the LBS is, this will show you why each year dudes all the way from Johnnie Paxson and Curtis Ciszek to Jamie Lynn and Terje Haakonsen make a beeline for Baker. If you know what the LBS is, you’ll want to go there even more after checking this.

The Red Bull Ultra Natural saw Gigi Rüf as its deserved winner, but fellow European and eighty-nine-times Rider of the Year Nicolas Müller was no small slouch on the Baldface run, either and came in second. Bryan ‘I Drink Water’ Fox scored third place with his run.

The second edition of Travis Rice’s backcountry freestyle competition of extraordinary magnitude went down on Baldface’s Scary Cherry run yesterday, with Gigi posting the highest score of the day to secure this pretty damn prestigious title. Basically the start list was a who’s who of next level backcountry freestyle and to run out as the winner here you need the winning mix of skill for days and spuds of steel. Gigi has both in spades.

Here’s a tasty course prep video that deals with the course setup. As for footage of the event proper you’ll have to wait. As last year, NBC has the rights to it and will drop the show on March 30th so hopefully after that we’ll be able to get our paws on some footy. However, as last year we’re sure some goodness will be leaked before. Stay tuned…

Of all the free snowboard movies of 2012, Nitro Snowboards’ full length team flick, Hyped! was probably the one making us want to go snowboarding most. It is a great combination of stellar riding (by the likes of Eero Ettala, Austin Smith, Nils Arvidsson, Justin Bennee and more) and fun stuff on and off the hill that people can relate to. And this is what it’s all about, init? Or as we said earlier this year when the flick dropped:

Bryan Fox is taking his snowboarding in a direction we could only dream of. Top notch jumps, AK lines, and some street action sprinkled in there. If thats not enough to get you excited there is some epic Travis Rice cameos in this part! You’re gonna want to watch this everyday before you go snowboarding, and you might as well download the full movie or better yet get a hard copy to keep forever!

The Mad Ones is a a web-based video project by Liam Gallagher. Inspired by the Beat Generation and specifically the writings of Jack Kerouac, The Mad Ones followed the freaks, all winter long. This is a movie about snowboarding and some Beatniks.

Hyped! is the feeling we all get when we strap into our snowboards

Quiksilver take us for another look at what went down in the making of one of their ads. Up this time is über boss Travis Rice. Sick spot, sick shot.

Rice took teammate Bryan Fox up to AK last winter and scored perfect conditions. Almost 2 months of continuous snowfall the boys lucked out with a couple of high pressure systems leading to the snow being “as good as it gets. Completely stable: all aspects, all elevations.” Scoping a crazy face where the snowpack had ‘creeped’, Travis attacked the weird, shelf-like pillows and bagged himself an ad shot as well as plenty of face shots.
