SATURDAY

Mark McMorris wins the Air&Style in Innsbruck. Wojtek and Ludde are among Europe’s finest. Gypsy Mob is a fairly good movie from Winnipeg. Crewzin’ episode 8 is all about Givin. Brandon Hobush owns a million different rail tricks. Waterville knows how to throw some bait out at snowboarders.

SUNDAY

First of all, we attended Ispo and basically stopped posting anything but product previews (here, here, here, here and here). Jamie Anderson and Sam Hulbert win the slopestyle and Kelly Clark and Kohei Kudo win the halfpipe at the Canadian Open. TWSnow releases Sunday in the Park Episode 9, Yobeat releases The Runs Episode 10, and Snowboarder Mag does Seven Deadly Edits Pt. 2. Then there’s some Working for the City B-footage from Minnesota.

MONDAY

Nick Poohachoff’s videopart looks solid. Carlos Blanchard launches his own website. Nick Visconti is down with Meningitis (and here’s the video). TUESDAY

Zak Hale, Alex Andrews, Bode Merrill and Harrison Gordon show five tricks. Kyle Mack is such a good rider. This edit is called Beers and Spliffs. Whitelines sells sex. Wisconsin had its best week ever. The Arctic Challenge publishes the list of confirmed riders. Here’s Victor Simko’s part from Poachers X. We really like this Analog flask.

WEDNESDAY

THURSDAY

Now that Ispo is over we post the highlights of the Canadian Open and the Air&Style Innsbruck. And some unseen Storming footage from Sammy Luebke. Jamie Nicholls runs home (and does 35 tricks on his way). Iikka Backstrom is still gnarly. The Nike Stairset Battle is over and we have the last highlight video and the teaser for the finals.The Illicit Snowboarder gives us a fabulous lowdown on rider polls. Yobeat shows how long it should take to put out an awesome edit. These two clips campaign heavily for the Timberline resort. Austria now has its own superpipe. FRIDAY

Jamie Lynn is still the bomb. Everyone in our office, save this sad and lonely internerd, bugger off to the riders draw for the Nike 6.0 Air&Style in Munich and we make our predictions of how round 1 will pan out. Seb Toutant apparently did 6 different doubles in training. Wowzers. We finally post out behind the scenes edit from the Burton European Open, which is great. Whitelines ask the question ‘Where is snowboarding headed?’ TheMustachio show what happens when tourist skiers tackle kickers, and finally: watch the Sumo hockey fight Ettala posted. Just do it.

The 5Star Burton Canadian Open wrapped up at the Winsport Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta last weekend with men’s and women’s slopestyle finals. American riders, Sam Hulbert and Jamie Anderson walked away victorious and took home a sizable portion of the $50,000 USD prize purse and 850 Swatch TTR World Ranking points. With her win today, Jamie reclaims the TTR tour lead for the women and if she attends the Oakley Arctic Challenge and the Burton US Open, she has an excellent chance to take the 2010/11 TTR World Tour Champion title.

With less than a week to go, the countdown has begun for the Burton Canadian Open Snowboarding Championships, presented by MINI. The 2011 Canadian Open will take place from February 1 – 6, 2011 at WinSport Canada’s Canada Olympic Park (COP) in Calgary, Alberta. The third stop on the 2010/2011 Burton Global Open Series and a SWATCH TTR 5Star event, the Canadian Open will include slopestyle and halfpipe competitions, offering riders the chance to earn a piece of the $50,000 USD prize purse and gain valuable points towards Burton Global Open Series championship titles and the Swatch Ticket To Ride World Tour championship titles.

New this year at the Canadian Open, car manufacturer MINI will be onsite as the presenting sponsor of the Burton Global Open Series (BGOS). Along with a variety of other onsite activities like MINI test drives, MINI will provide athlete and VIP shuttle services at the Canadian Open in the new MINI Countryman. In addition, MINI created a new rider’s award that’s in line with the carmaker’s ‘Creative Use of Space’ philosophy. The Creative Use of Space Award is worth a total of 50,000 US dollars and will be shared by the best male and female rider who have shown creativity and progression throughout the BGOS series. Everyone is encouraged to vote for the rider that embodies the Creative Use of Space Award at www.facebook.com/MINI under the Burton tab.

All events at the Canadian Open are free and open to the public, starting with the first competitions on Tuesday, February 1, which include men’s and women’s halfpipe qualifications. Wednesday, February 2 will see men’s and women’s slopestyle qualifiers. Thursday, February 3 will feature men’s and women’s halfpipe semi-finals followed by men’s and women’s slopestyle semi-finals on Friday, February 4. All eyes will be on the halfpipe on Friday night for men’s and women’s halfpipe finals with DJs JS1 and Ody Rock spinning during the event. After the Friday night awards ceremony, renowned DJ Mix Master Mike will headline. Also on Friday night, local favorite characters Terry and Dean from the Cult film ‘Fubar’ will officially host the beer tent onsite. The Canadian Open will wrap up on the slopestyle course on Saturday, February 6th for men’s and women’s slopestyle finals.

An overall male and female Burton Global Open Series Champion will be crowned at the final event, the US Open Snowboarding Championships held in Stratton, Vermont in March. The 2010/2011 BGOS Champions will each take home $50,000 cash and a new MINI Countryman. In addition, male and female riders who come in second place in the overall BGOS standings will each earn $30,000, and riders in third place will take home $20,000 each.

Ruka, Finland is going to see yet another Oakley Girlsessions. The event takes place from 8 to 11 April 2010. It is famous for attracting female riders of all levels from Finland as well as riders from all over Europe to hit the perfectly shaped Ruka BatteryPark. Girls have a chance to compete in various formats, including a 3 star swatch TTR contest, a team contest, and an individual slope style and pipe competition. No matter if you are pro or rookie, as long as you are female April should be all about heading North and killing it in Finland! By the way: Last year’s winner Enni Rukajärvi has since taken the pro contest scene by storm, winning pretty much every contest she was competing in: Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam, Roxy Chicken Jam, Burton European Open and the Burton Canadian Open!
