This is an awesome bit of vintage shred cinema. Released in 1994, The SCANDS features the first wave of Scandinavian snowboarders who exploded onto the scene and left a lasting mark. So sick.

This movie is full of riders who went on to become legends in snowboarding – it’s like a who’s who of early 90s shred talent: Injemar, Terje, Johan, Brushie, Franck… and after giving it a watch it’s tempting to say this was from when snowboarding was actually cool. It was certainly a more simple time. The focus on poking and shiftying the hell out is awesome to watch, although it seems landing wasn’t as necessary as it is today. At least punk rock tops metro pop any day of the week.

This Tuesday, our Time Machine of Infinite Radness has its clock set to 1996. Daniel Franck’s part in Mack Dawg Productions’ Stomping Grounds is what it landed upon, and a finer display of cutting edge shredding from 15 years ago you’d be hard pushed to find.

This was shortly after Daniel and Ingemar Backman had created Atlantis Snowboards, and when Franck was arguably one of the most influential riders of the time. Check the rodeos off the toes, the state of the pipes and most importantly Daniel Franck’s mad skills.
