JP Walker and a bunch of dudes like Scott Stevens, Marko Grilc and Chris Grenier throw handplants for days in this edit. Pure radness.

JP Walker brought together a group of snowboarding’s most talented riders for the day-long Handplant Holiday at Bear Mountain. World class planters were treated to a set up unlike anything seen before, created by the innovative park crew at Bear. The exclusive set up, unique team aspect, and jam format, combined with the relaxed and friendly vibe, gave the riders the opportunity to concentrate on their handplant progression as they went for tricks from the hard to undoable lists. Featuring: JP Walker, Jeremy Jones, Simon Chamberlain, Scott Stevens, Marko Grilc, Chris Grenier, Pat Bridges, Cody Rosenthal, Tim Eddy, Ben Bilocq and special guests Dave Downing and Dale Rehberg.

Jussi’s now one of Active’s team riders, so to celebrate his arrival Dave Downing shuttled him around the mountains and beaches of SoCal. Check the man living the Californian Dream.

Jussi Oksanen jumped aboard the Active bandwagon and so they made a video of him shredding Mt High in the morning with Dave Downing, skating around the Active warehouse and surfing come arvo. Sure, the stunts mellow but Jussi is the business.

Vice’s historically-laced Powder & Rails series is back to cast its all-seeing eye over the Standard Films legacy. As with last week’s Part 1, this is 10 minutes of compulsory internetting.

If you watched Part 1 last week you’ll be frothing for this. If you missed Part 1, watch it now and then come back and watch this. This has footage of and chat about Johan Olofsson’s legendary TB5 part in it goddamnit! It also drives home the intensity of working on producing the backcountry hero shots that many take for granted. Essential viewing.

Standard Films reached the 20-year milestone this year with the release of TB20, so Vice sent their Powder & Rails crew to sit down with the men responsible for making these snowboard films so groundbreaking. This has some awesome old footage from TB2 in it, plus some behind the scenes stuff from a session with Gjermund Bråten, Gulli Gudmundsson and Halldor Helgason at Alpine Meadows.

Here’s the chat:

VICE today announces the premiere of the fourth season of Powder & Rails, a series developed by VICE and Burton devoted to exploring the frosty world of snowboarding, the onslaught of shredding, and day-glo jackets.

In the first four episodes of the new season, VICE heads out to Red Rocks, Colorado to attend the world premiere of TB20 (Totally Board 20), in celebration of Standard Films’ 20th anniversary. There, we catch up with Travis Robb and Mike and Dave Hatchett, the first of their kind to join together big mountain, back country boarding with freestyle hi-jinks. In this episode, the guys invite us to see some of TB20 in the making at Alpine Meadows, Lake Tahoe with the company of snowboarder friends Gjermund Bråten, Gulli Gudmundsson and Halldor Helgason. They divulge Standard Films’ inception, tracking its history with the likes of Standard alumni Tom Burt, Jim Rippey and Jeremy Jones.

For the fourth season of Powder & Rails, not only do we go behind the scenes of Standard Film’s TB20, but we get up close and personal with the likes of snowboarding’s first backcountry maniac, Tom Burt, the most badass board developer, Chuck Barfoot, and hit up Summit County where we chat with Marc Frank Montoya, Dave England, Mikey LeBlanc, Scott E. Wittlake, the Tarquin Robbins, and many more.

Our latest toe-dip into snowboarding’s past sees Jamie Lynn, Dave Downing and Noah Salasnek in their heyday. Check it out.

1996 was 15 years ago. Being that we’re all about triple corks and Olympic hoop jumping we were not even a drunken twinge in our fathers’ lederhosen back then; we have no idea what 1996 was like. Course not. Turns out a) there was snowboarding and b) it was awesome and here’s a triple part of radness from MDP’s Stomping Grounds that we absolutely did NOT watch over and over until the tape burnt out in the shop where we didn’t work after college. No sir.

Lynn, Downing and Salasnek were, according to our memor… er, Google, the reliable crew of go-to guys for progressive freestyle who would annually turn up in the Mack Dawg and Standard films and blow our minds. Or would have done it we weren’t so young and cool. Getme blud.

Enough of this yakking, watch the part.
