For the first time, Burton are giving anyone the chance to create a Burton board graphic through a design contest run by ‘Blank You Very Much’. In case you haven’t seen it, check the skinny right here…

This is a killer opportunity for anyone to design a Burton snowboard graphic. Here are the basics on how the program works:

Burton’s friends at Blank You Very Much, a website devoted to crowd-sourced design, are tapping into their creative community of nearly twenty-thousand artists to submit graphic options that will be showcased in their BYVM gallery.

At the end of November, the community will vote and choose the top 20 designers. Burton are encouraging their dealers to sign up to the community so they can see the submissions along the way at www.blankyouverymuch.com.

After the top 20 designers are identified, each of their designs (2 from each) will then be exclusively voted on by selected Burton dealers to narrow the field to 10 top designs.

From there, these 10 boards will be built at Craig’s and brought out to the SIA show where Danny Davis and Mark Sollors will select the two finalists.
Winning graphics will then be used on Burton boards planned for the 2014 production season.

For this year’s design contest, Dragon are offering up their top end goggle to be your canvas – the APX. So download the template (we’ve provided an illustrator or a pdf version) and go wild. As Dragon say, “It’s definitely a new challenge for artists to be associated with our premium frame.”

In your design you MUST include the Dragon and Onboard logos, but other than that you have free rein to do whatever you want within the APX template.

Once you’ve created your masterpiece of next level goggle design, email your entries to thecrew@onboardmag.com. If they are over a couple of megabytes please create a .pdf preview and send that. Make sure you include your full name and contact details and title your entry Dragon Design Contest 2011/12.

The entries will be judged by Onboard and Dragon and whichever design we think is the sickest will be notified as the winner and will receive 10 pairs of their self-designed goggles once they have been produced.

Once again, the DEADLINE IS MARCH 1 2012. Midnight German time, to be precise.

Entries for previous editions were off the chain, so we’re already stoked to see what you guys come up with this time round.

Swatch and the TTR World Snowboard Tour kicked off the second edition of the Art Rules Design Contest today, offering anyone with a creative mind a chance to make a mark within design and snowboard communities around the globe. Any and all artists are invited to submit a graphic design to be applied to the 2011/2012 TTR World Tour Champion trophy. The trophy itself was sculpted by renowned “Coarse” designer Mark Landwehr, and is one of the most prestigious and respected awards a snowboard athlete can obtain in their careers. Designers can submit their artwork beginning today at www.artrules.swatch.com and the contest will run until April 15th, 2011.

In addition to the recognition and glory that comes along with being the designer of this unique “Oscar of Snowboarding”, the winner of the Art Rules competition will also receive a two week trip to Shanghai, China, including transportation and accommodation, plus pocket cash. Everyone is invited to participate! The designs will be judged by a critical jury of five, consisting of the Swatch President Arlette-Elsa Emch, the legendary snowboarder David Benedek, the President of the TTR Reto Lamm, Fashion Designer Uma Wang, and one more expert to be announced soon.

The winner will be presented at the Swatch Art Rules Night on the 27th of May 2011, in Stockholm, Sweden. The competition is now open and ends on April 15th, 2011. The rules and details for submissions can be found on www.artrules.swatch.com , so get your colors out and start designing!

So, after much deliberation, a few Chinese burns and a bloody nose or two, here are the winners of the first Artec/Onboard Design Contest.

It was a tough call but between the Onboard crew and Artec’s design team and crew of riders we settled on 10 we felt were the best of the avalanche of submissions we received. Then, we voted again to arrive at a top 3, all of which will have their designs be made into real-life, wood and fibreglass snowboards. The remaining 7 entrants will receive Artec/Onboard care packages which should go some way to softening the blow of being so close but yet so far.

Our competition to design and win your own Artec Cipher board has been up and running for a few weeks now, and we’ve had some killer designs submitted so far. Peep some of them here…

If you’ve got a hum-dinger in your thought box you want to unleash, then all the information, guidelines, templates and rules can be found on the original Artec/Onboard Design Contest post. Deadline for your entries is December 31, 2010, and then the Onboard and Artec crews will put their heads together, stroke chins, have blazing rows and whittle down the submissions in January 2011 to a top 3, all of which will be made into a real limited edition board, and the top 10 will all receive Artec/onboard goodie packs. Hello, I am the new TTR Trophy.

Imagine your snowboard hero (or heroine) wins next season’s TTR Tour and gets awarded with a trophy that you yourself designed? Sounds crazy? Well, the TTR and their main sponsor Swatch just kicked off their “Art Rules” TTR Trophy Design Contest. All you need is an eye for design and some creativity and off you go! To make things a little easier they already created the blank trophy: German “Coarse” artist Mark Landwehr came up with the statue of a snowboarder the looks of which – according to the TTR press release – make Oscar look downright plain.

It is then all about creating a unique design vision that represents the nature of the Swatch TTR Tour. You get the one chance of a lifetime to be part of the design outlook that fits in with the “Coarse” statue along with a new Swatch TTR watch to match, which will be produced and distributed worldwide in 2010/11. This will not only let you play an important role in the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour season but will also bring you worldwide recognition and press coverage.

Apart from the fame and glory that comes along with being the designer of this unique “Oscar of Snowboarding”, a two week creative vacation to Shanghai, including transportation and accommodation costs plus pocket money will be handed out.
