There’s a little less than a week to go till we close our annual Onboard x Dragon Design Contest and as ever we’ve received an avalanche of killer submissions. As you might expect from these heavyweights of the industry of eye protection, the Dragon Rogue Goggle has a wide range of features to make you see better for longer. For this year’s design contest, Dragon are offering up their top end goggle to be your canvas – the APX. So download the template (we’ve provided an illustrator or a pdf version) and go wild. As Dragon say, “It’s definitely a new challenge for artists to be associated with our premium frame.”

In your design you MUST include the Dragon and Onboard logos, but other than that you have free rein to do whatever you want within the APX template.

Once you’ve created your masterpiece of next level goggle design, email your entries to thecrew@onboardmag.com. If they are over a couple of megabytes please create a .pdf preview and send that. Make sure you include your full name and contact details and title your entry Dragon Design Contest 2011/12.

The entries will be judged by Onboard and Dragon and whichever design we think is the sickest will be notified as the winner and will receive 10 pairs of their self-designed goggles once they have been produced.

Once again, the DEADLINE IS MARCH 1 2012. Midnight German time, to be precise.

Entries for previous editions were off the chain, so we’re already stoked to see what you guys come up with this time round.

In our latest report from ISPO we get to see the Dragon dude show off two of their premier models, the all-new APX and Gigi Rüf’s signature model.

Firstly, the APX is a brand new model to Dragon’s broad stable of goggles and boast some damn fancy technology and design that we think might be unique to this pair of eye-catchers. It has what the dudes at Dragon call the Infinity lens, which in layman’s terms means the lens goes right to the edge of goggle. Say what? Yup, unlike other goggles the lens doesn’t appear to be housed in the frame. So what does this do? Well according to Dragon it gives the wearer enhanced lateral and vertical vision, which can only be a good thing on the hill. This also makes the lens more easily changeable, which is also rather useful as you will know to well having struggled in the past with gummy frames in the cold. Like other goggles in also has plenty of venting and some cushy Polar Fleece on the face foam to make that interface between man and goggle all that more comfortable. So there is the APX.

Next up is Gigi’s signature model goggle, which is basically a souped up Ranger frame with a red ionised lens, and some pretty unique styling, including the first ever customised Dragon logo, just for Gigi.

Now that rocks!
