That’s what I call ‘sticking to the plan’! But all jokes aside, judging from their report the event must have been a banger:

The “Last Run, Last Hit!” thing went down at Flumserberg on Saturday, April 10, and it was a TTR 1Star event. The organisers of the event – the “Hillrippers Crüe” – made sure the day in the Real Park by Atomic was a perfect end to a great season. Riders came from all over Switzerland to celebrate and give their best in the three different disciplines “Big Air Style Masters”, “Rail Masters” and “Highest Ollie”.

“The Style Masters” proved who really is a stylish shred. Top honours went to the older riders: Marc Furrer came in 4th, Pascal Pfiffner third, Gian Gadient missed top spot by one point, and Dominic “Kojak” Eggenberger took home victory with his legendary clean Switch BS 540 and a BS 180s. The trophy for the best trick went to Maurice Gilliand for his BS 180 double shifty. He scored an unbelievable 29 out of 30 points. If you look that trick up in a dictionary you might find a picture of him.

The “Rail Masters” took place in the end section of the park. It included rails, boxes, dancefloor bonks, a quarter and a hip. It was the locals Dennis Good and Pitsch Ambühl that shared the top spot in this category.

The “highest ollie”, a contest not much unlike our infamous Junk&Funk Junkometer was a big surprise: Up until a pile of six boards pretty much everyone was still in the game, but it were only last year’s winner Pascal ‘Pop’ Pfiffner and Crüe homie Mike Steinmann who had the technique to olllie that high. Eventually Mike jumped over eight boards and secured the prestigious win in this category.

And just when all the shred action was over the sun came out and helped turn the end of the day into a beer and bratwurst fest…

Alright, The Real Park in Flumserberg might not have the reputation of, say, Mammoth Mountain. But all over the season, this Swiss resort has hosted a fine selection of grass roots events. To round things up they’ll throw another last event, the 1Star TTR event “Last Run, Last Hit!” on April 10, 2010.

The Hillrppers Crüe invites everyone for the season’s finale to a perfectly shaped park. The weather will be bluebird with around 15 degrees – you could not ask for more. For the last time wax your board, strap into your boots and land your tricks into the spring slush.

According to their press release it is all about the fun of snowboarding and a decent end of season day. To make sure of this they will make use of the popular free-drinks-free-bbq-in-the-park idea. And apart from having fun at the “Highest Ollie Contest” and the “Rail Masters” you can also collect some TTR points at the “Style Masters” contest:
Riders will hit the big air kicker. It will be shaped specifically for the “Last run, last hit!” event. Each rider has 4 runs and has to perform a 540, a 360, a 180 and and a straight air. The sole judging criterion is style.

Jibber kids can get down with it at the “Rail Masters”. Again quoting from the press release the park will feature an “unbelievable jibbing combo”. And last but not least the “Highest Ollie Contest” will offer your chance to show your insane popping skills. The many sponsors make sure there will be enough prizes for pretty much every participant.

This year, the Hillrippers Crüe celebrates its 10th anniversary. Over the last ten years the crew celebrated several magazine covers and contest victories – and suffered quite some hard bails and injuries. No doubt that such a birthday wants partying. Hence the “Last Run, Last Hit!” after-party, which will go down as the “10 Years Hillrippers Crüe Birthday Bash!” in the Play Club in Mels.

News from Switzerland: The Real Park in Flumserberg has been blessed by a lot of fresh snow over the last couple of weeks. The entire park is apparently in perfect shape and boasts a separate easy line, a kicker line and a jib line. And until 21 February you can practice your doubles on an airbag.

Quite a hymn of praise for one park you might think. Right on, buddy, but the reason we are talking about Flumserberg is that on 27 February 2010 they will host their second Tag Team Contest. Two riders each will have a go at the aforementioned park lines before everyone hits the “after-party-party” (maybe a little too much party, no?). Here’s some more information on the timing and all:
