Best know for their outerwear, Rhythm has dipped its toe in the world of board manufacturing to make a limited run of handmade stunt sticks including a pro model for Freddy the Fox.

We are delighted to announce the release of a limited edition of custom snowboards, including a pro model for team rider Fredrik “The Fox” Austbo. The boards will be produced at an undisclosed location in Switzerland, with the focus being on quality, not quantity. Freddy wanted a board with exceptional response and pop, the kind that can’t be mass-produced. So, we found some people who are as passionate about making snowboards as we are about riding them.

Their setup isn’t a factory, it’s a small workshop where each board is built by hand, using the highest grade materials. Boards like this don’t come cheap, but we’re not building them to make a profit. We’re building them for our team riders, and for anyone else looking for a board that is more like a Swiss watch than a Chinese noodle.

Fredrik is just as stoked on the graphic as the board itself: “For my artwork I wanted to feature the swords that represent my hometown of Stavanger, so I put my friend Peter-John at shallowtree.com on it. He went to work for 24 hours straight, and I’m SO blown away by the result!”

Along with three more hand-made, brand-new models, Freddy’s “Flying Fox” 154cm pro model can be seen at our booths at SIA (booth 262) and ISPO (Hall A2, booth 215).

Since Norway is like the European New Zealand anyhow, the Norwegian snowboard team takes to the NZ parks like a fish to water! And don’t forget: There are only about 5 million Norwegians, compared to 315 million US-Americans…

If we spotted them correctly, you are going to watch Stale Sandbech, Gjermund Braten, Roger Kleivdal, Ulrik Badertscher, Torgeir Bergrem, Fredrik Austbo, Emil Ulsletten, Helene Olafsen, Simen Neraker, and Aleks Oestreng.

In a fit of Dad-joke comedic genius we were going to title this ‘Eeros Do America’, but then we watched it, found out that as well as Eero Ettala and Eero Niemelä this also has the Scandic skills of Iikka Backstrom and Freddy Austbø in it. Oh well, it’s still a super funtime edit that will make you want to get your shred on ASAP. Check it!

There’s a good amount of mellow, fun-looking riding in this from the boys, plus some skating and general summercamp malarky. Plus there’s lots of Methods. We liked this.

Following up on the Norwegians in Cali clip from a while ago, Nixon just dropped this video of Fredrik Austbo enjoying himself a little more in the Golden State. Good snowboarding and amazing bowl skating.

This handful of talented Norwegians – Fredrik Austbø, Tom Erik Ryen, Stian Solberg and Mats Hofgaard – have some good times in California. Things go down in Mammoth, LA, and Venice Beach.

We accompanied them on a shoot in Norway earlier this year, and the dedication, spirit, and their riding skills are astonishing. We were expecting much after seeing their first teaser in November but this one blew us out of the water. It almost feels like a Lord of the Rings of snowboard movies. Teaser 2 is the 2nd of 3 teasers released by Process Films for its current 2 year film project. Following some of Norway’s most progressive snowboarders, A Shot in the Dark will be split into two separate films. The first is a trick film while the second follows a documentary format.

Progression in snowboarding has been moving at an alarming rate over the last few years. A Shot in the Dark takes a look at the various channels of pressure riders face, and the harsh reality of injuries.

The films will be distributed internationally by major snowboard publications near the end of 2011.

Filmed in Norway, New Zealand, Switzerland, Austria, France and America.

Some of Quiksilver’s international A-Listers booked themselves in to the stellar Kitzsteinhorn park to shoot a bunch of stuff for next season. With the likes of Teo Konttinen, Markku Koski, Ulrik Badertscher, Viktor Temoryev, Fredrik Austbo and a swarm of filmers and photographers in tow, the shaping crew knew they needed to construct some legit features.
