THE APP FOR SKATE- AND SNOWBOARDING OUT NOW WORLDWIDE.

Big names in skateboarding and snowboarding have come together to build the world’s largest community of skateboarders and snowboarders by launching Spot Digger – The App for finding the best Skate- and Snowboarding spots around the world. Spot Digger has been originally founded by Eero Ettala and Fredu Sirviö and has an impressive global team of professional riders behind it. The development of the Spot Digger app has been financed by Samsung Finland.

Spot Digger is a location based social mobile application and internet service that lets users search, find, share and rate the best skate and snow spots, and lets them add their favorite ones to the map and list favorite locations. The users will create the content by adding their own spots. The application lets users see all the spots on the map and in a list view. They can also search for specific locations filtered by distance, name, rating and type. They can check in to spots, add photos and information about their own locations and rate other’s spots and pictures. In the news feed, users can see in real time what others are up to;

“I check the Spot Digger news feed all the time to check where my friends shred.” Says Halldor Helgason, Spot Digger team rider.

Spot Digger has an impressive global team of professional riders behind it; the snowboard team includes global super stars: Eero Ettala, Mark McMorris, Aaron Biittner, Fredu Sirvio, Halldor Helgason Eiki Helgason and Heikki Sorsa. The skateboard team includes professional skateboarders: Madars Apse, Jaakko Ojanen, Simo Makela, Jesse Turunen and Pirkka Pollari and more joining soon.

The team members will be an active part of the Spot Digger community. They will create content such as blog posts on spotdigger.com, videos and pictures for Spot Digger, list their own favorite spots while travelling the world taking part in the biggest contests and filming for the most popular skateboard and snowboard movies.

“I used to have hundreds of spots in my head and finally there is a way to store them all on my phone. I feel like I have tons of free brain capacity again.” Says Eero Ettala, one of the founders.

With Spot Digger you have all the spots in the world in your pocket plus you can easily see what your friends and professional riders are up to. Spot Digger offers an easy way to follow your friends, the pros and your favorite brands. Samsung Finland is Spot Digger’s main launch partner and actively participates in related events. “Samsung is passionate about sports and we think that snow- and skateboarding are really exciting pursuits. We have been involved in organizing sports-related events in the past and have developed products, such as the Galaxy Xcover, that offers durability and are perfect for snow- and skateboarders. We’re excited to be a part of the Spot Digger launch as it is a cool, new innovation that helps snowboarders and skateboarders find the best spots to do their thing”, says Samsung Finland’s marketing manager Eva Carrero.

The application was launched worldwide for Android during Board Expo trade fair 2nd -4th November 2012 in Helsinki. The iOS version of the application will be launched worldwide in the beginning of January 2013.

Watch the eagerly anticipated – yet ever-so slightly delayed – follow-up to Sexual Snowboarding right here, right now. From around 16.00 CET.

You’ll have doubtless already got the dirt about this movie in our Pepping! interview with Eiki Helgason, and now you can hit play and check the stunts from Eiki, Halldor, Gulli Gudmundsson, Ethan Morgan, Eero Ettala and more. Who knows, maybe even you’re in it if you sent in footage for the Open part….

Here’s the natter from Eiki, Halldor and Johannes, or you could just hit play and read it later. Yeah right. #pepping

Sexual Snowboarding Presents: Pepping!

We have done a follow up for Sexual snowboarding with a similar style as last year since we got such sick feedback on that movie!

The concept is pretty much the same as last year, it takes you through our season – trip by trip. Its just a short high tempo movie around 20 min so its perfect to watch before you go snowboarding. The whole point with Pepping! is that you are suppose to wanna go snowboarding like never before after watching it.

What does the word Pepping mean? – It’s just a Scandinavian word combo off being Pumped, Little bit Horny and Stoked at the same time.

Riders in the movie: Eiki Helgason, Halldór Helgason, Gulli Gudmundsson, Kareem El Rafie, Leo Crawford, Ethan Morgan, Tor Lundström, Risto Roukola, Tony Kerkela, Eero Ettala, Fredu Sirviö and the almighty open part where the Helgasons.com followers got the opportunity to send in their banging shots from this season!

We claim this years ‘open part’ is the best thing that has ever happened (haha). We got over 1000 mails with kids sending their shots, they where so fun to watch! We are so stoked on all the people that send us their banger shots and thank everyone that have contributed to one of the best video parts in history… We got to give extra credit to: Flo Corzelius, Daniel Diedrich and Alex Haapamäki – You guys strait up killed it.

Locations filmed: Iceland, Finland, Japan, Italy, Austria, Sweden and Switzerland.

Thanks To all our Sponsors for making this possible: Monster, Oakley, Nike, Lobster Snowboards, Hoppipolla Headwear, 7/9/13 Belts, SwitchBack Bindings, Endeavour / Airhole, Colour wear, Junkyard.com, Bataleon Snowboards, Neff Gloves, Sweet Protection, Fast And Dangerous Snowboard Wax.

Instagram & Twitter users, let us know how your Pepping premiere looks like. Take a photo with hashtag #pepping

Thanks for watching & enjoy our movie!

PEACE

Finnish rail reaper Fredu’s just jumped on the Rough Snowboards love train. Rough celebrate with this quick edit of him jibbing to shouty, sweary music and go all-in with their AfterEffects skills.

Here’s what the boys at Rough had to say:

We had promised more sick news for the beginning of the season, and here it is! Starting from this season Fredu Sirvio, “The Finnish rail Reaper” will officially be part of the ROUGHsnowboards team.

Back in 2004, when we were laying the foundations of ROUGH snowboards, Fredu was the new kid on the block. His super recognizable style and his incredible bag of new tricks immediately blew our minds. Today Fredu’s definitely the roughest rider we know and we’re fucking proud he jumped in our small hut. He really embodies ROUGH snowboards’ approach to the industry. When asked about is feelings after we signed the contract in Helsinki last spring, this is what he had to say: “I’ve always wanted to ride for core companies that keep snowboarding real. Snowboarding is all about friends, progression, having fun and attitude. With Rough I’ve finally found the company that keeps it real and does things their own way. That’s how I like to do it too. I’m really excited to ride for Rough Snowboards and be part of their amazing team! Rock n roll!” – Fredu

As you will see in the attached edit, Fredu’s pro model deck is still top secret, but be sure you will soon see him rip up some sick spot riding it. At ROUGH, we have never been so stoked as now we are releasing this bomb.
Fredu’s on ROUGH, suckers!

We know you're not reading this as you'll just have seen the words "Sexual" "Snowboarding" and "Helgasons" and immediately clicked play.

We know you’re not reading this as you’ll just have seen the words “Sexual” “Snowboarding” and “Helgasons” and immediately clicked play.

The boys ended up making their debut movie, arousingly titled Sexual Snowboarding, a little longer than they planned so they’re dropping this first full part with homies Fredu Sirvio, Jonas Carlson, Jonte Lindhe, Felix Engström, Aleks Ostereng, Benny Wetscher and Kevin Griffin getting it done.

Then, tomorrow, you’ll get 20-odd minutes of Halldor, Eiki, Gulli and a couple others in your face, with the awesome montage of fans clips tossed in for good measure. We watched it today – it’s wild, it’s verging on sexual, it is good. Then, unless we’ve gone full retard and misunderstood the three amigos, there’s gonna be another part to drop. Here’s the chat from the horse’s mouths:

The movie is split up in three parts. With the long edits dropping Wednesday. When we started making the movie the plan was to make something that was between 15 and 20 minutes long, so it would be perfect to watch while putting on your boots before going riding. When we were done making the film we had almost 30 minutes.

That’s why we split the movie up in 2 side drops. We simply think this is the sickest way to watch the project. The first is a full part with Fredu Sirvio, Jonas Carlson, Jonte Lindhe, Felix Engström, Aleks Ostereng, Benny Wetscher and Kevin Griffin (watch it below!). The other side drop is the Open Part Remix. We will definitely do a new one for next year’s movie. It was super fun to watch what kids send us. This will drop after Wednesday.

We don’t want to give away more info than Sexual Snowboarding follows Halldor, Eiki and Gulli around the world and that it’s edited more after trips than into full parts.”

Here is a list of riders who is in the movie:
Maybe you, If you sent in footy to us for the open part
Halldor Helgason
Eiki Helgason
Gulli Gudmundsson
Gjermund Braaten
Ethan Morgan
Fredu Sirvio
Risto Ruokola

These Finnish boys had ridden rails together many times before, but this was the first time they’d got to do a powder trip together. Despite taking a couple days to get their pow legs back and some mixed conditions, the result was goodtimes all round.

Two of our Finnish buddies, Risto Ruokola & Fredu Sirviö, will launch their “lifestyle blog” Yellowsnowboarding.com on November 4. Check the chat.

Here’s what Fredu and Risto had to say about their project. Sounds like it could be one to bookmark for sure…

Yellowsnowboarding.com for us is about bringing back the good old times we had before the industry lead us to different directions in the sport.

A few years ago we did everything together and we were able to push each other all the time in snowboarding and in every day life. It felt weird not to be able to film and spend as much time with your best friend anymore.

Brothers of other mothers: Fredu and Risto. Photo: Arto Ekman

We came up with an idea of putting up our own blog site so we could do more stuff together and stay in touch all the time. The idea of the site is to keep posting all the time, several times a week, where ever we are and whatever we are doing.

We’ll bring loads of edits, photos and stories about our seasons for you & your mother to view. Contests around the year with sick little giveaways are going to be a part of our blogging.

We will also have a launching competition with banging prizes for the winner! So don’t forget to check out our site yellowsnowboarding.com on the launch day November 4th!

Feast your eyes on this preview of the new clothing and snowboard line up that Icon Snowboards are gonna be tempting you with this coming 2011/2012 season.

Feast your eyes on this preview of the new clothing and snowboard line up that Icon Snowboards are gonna be tempting you with this coming 2011/2012 season.

Icon Snowboards was started with a strong philosophy of performance, quality and style and a decade later this philosophy, as well as their dedication and love for snowboarding, still remains. Now with the awesome Finnish rail slayer Fredu Sirviö on the team, Icon are going from strength to strength and their new 2011/2012 product line is definitely worth checking out.

First on show is the new Lick board which boasts a twin tip, reverse camber and nice soft flex – perfect for freestyle, jibbing and tearing up the powder. As far as graphics go, the classic Icon pop-sickle design remains just as sick as ever.

Next up is this year’s MDS board which looks like a prefect heavy hitting freestyle machine. With twin tips, classic camber construction and a sintered base this board is gonna be great for riding park kickers and backcountry booters.

As far as outwear products go, the Madison jacket and Fredu Sirviö’s pants from his Heartbreak Collection are looking pretty rad too. The Madison is a women’s jacket which is all about good fit and quality fabric. It has all the necessary features of a snowboard jacket but comes in a super stylish package. Another exciting new product is Fredu Sirviö’s faux leather Monroe pants from his Heartbreak collection which could well be the tightest pants on the market. Although the aesthetics are what these pants are really about they still have 10k waterproof and 10k breathable fabric to keep the elements at bay. A slick product from a slick rider.

Check the preview video above for all the details.
