Freestyle Action & the Art of Yodeling – Almdudler Freestyle Feast Vol. 8 

An entire armada of freeskiers and snowboarders met at the Almdudler Snowpark Sölden last Saturday to celebrate the 8th edition of the legendary Almdudler Freestyle Feast. In addition to an extensive ‘Goodies 4 Trix’ session, BBQ and massive DJ sounds, we were also looking for the most talented Yodel Hero!

On Saturday, March 23^rd, 2013, the Almdudler Snowpark Sölden called for the already 8th edition of the legendary Almdudler Freestyle Feast. Like the previous seven editions, it was all about spending an awesome freestyle shred session with friends at the biggest snowpark in the Ötztal. Be it freeskier or snowboarder, pro or beginner, everyone was welcome to participate.

In the morning hours, shredheads of all ages got together to start off the Almdudler Freestyle Feast with the ‘Goodies 4 Trix’ session. As the name already implies, tons of awesome goodies by Almdudler and Moreboards were up for grabs. The contestants had to announce the trick they were going to perform on the individual obstacles, stomp it and were then rewarded with great prizes! First on the agenda was a 6m downbox. Then the session moved on to the first jump of the medium line, where the riders really got cracking and pulled out some impressive double backflips and double frontflips. The experienced freeskiers and snowboarders took their role model function quite seriously and showed the rookies how to handle the 8m straightrail properly.

Since the motivated contestants hiked most of the obstacles to stomp as many trix as possible, they had to beef up properly at the end of the session. A hearty barbecue and fresh Almdudler made sure that the riders regained their strength! In the meantime, live DJ Captain Jorge and MC Börni put on a great show at the chill area!  

Next Almdudler Yodel Hero

Once the batteries were recharged, we were once again looking for the „Next Almdudler Yodel Hero“, that is, the most talented Yodeler from the Ötztal. Benni Mösl and Goffi Gram accepted the challenge from Elias Giacomelli and battled hard to defend their champion’s title. In a breathtaking finale, the audience decided per clap ranking in favor of challenger Elias, who may now look forward to a year’s supply of Almdudler. Of course we couldn’t miss out on asking the victorious yodeler a few questions:

Hey Elias, how did you like the Almdudler Freestyle Feast, was it your first time here?

“No, I’ve been here last year as well. Since I broke my collarbone two weeks ago, I couldn’t participate at the Goodies 4 Trix session. But it was a great day nevertheless and especially the yodel contest was tons of fun!”

Are you going to finish the year’s supply of Almdudler all by yourself?

“Haha, no, I think that would be too much. Since my friends contributed to my victory by cheering that enthusiastically for me, I think I will share my prize with them and my family.”

Pop down Sölden on March 23rd for the 8th annual Almdudler Freestyle Feast. Name your trick, land it clean, pick up some swag, munch a bratwurst, and kiss the cheering girls. Complicated? Not so much. You can even win a year’s supply of a mystery refreshing Austrian beverage for ‘best yodeling’ skills. Go on, get amongst it.

The sixth Freestyle Feast passed off at splendid weather conditions and made more people than ever pilgrim from all directions to the Swatch Snowpark Sölden in order to celebrate our beloved freestyle! Live guitar accompanied by rap sounds of the brilliant speaker Jonel Fricke, an ever shining sun and stylish action on one and two boards were predominating the undisputed, most relaxed scene come-together of the Ötztal valley.

The sixth Freestyle Feast passed of at splendid weather conditions and made more people than ever pilgrim from all directions towards the Swatch Snowpark Sölden in order to celebrate our beloved freestyle! Live guitar accompanied by rap sounds, an evershining sun and stylish action on one and two boards were predominating the undisputed most relaxed scene come-together of the Ötztal valley.

Blue skies, a shaped and shiny Swatch Snowpark, a high riding-level and of course the nightlife of Sölden guaranteed that the sixth Freestyle Feast had enough on offer for everyone, no matter if participant or guest. Around 50 riders spent relaxed and fun lines and if not before, at least at the highlight of the day, the Cash & Goodies for Trix Session, the audience could witness that the Ötztal scene is growing both in number and their skill level!

Cash & Goodies for Trix Sessions

At high noon, 12:00 am, the GOODIES for Trix Session went off on the medium kicker and the rainbow box. Around 50 highly motivated riders gave everything they could, no wonder, as they could win cool stuff by Moreboards, Oakley and Nitro such as bindings, jackets and much more! After an hour all goodies had been distributed but you could feel that the riders just went hot by then. So it was high time to open the CASH for Trix Session at 1:00 pm!

Pure Freestyle Entertainment

A good portion of the great atmosphere was spurred by the hot beats of DJ Backspin out of the special gondola DJ set and for the whole event, the mouth of German speaker Jonel Fricke was wide open with witty comments to the riders, their tricks and everything else around the contest. Even after the sessions were over, at 3:00 pm, his toungue was loose as ever and so he gave a special music performance together with the Australian Oozmond Lockett, who has already a fame status in Sölden as all-round-entertainer. He rocked his guitar while Jonel dropped some accompanying verses.

Good Vibes All Around

“Parkdaddy” Rudi Wyhlidal has once again provided not only a fabulous setup with his crew, but also made sure that the event was presented in its best colors through his camera lenses: “This year there was something special about the feast. For sure there were more freestylers than before joining the party and showing their tricks in the park. Not only locals, but also shredders from surrounding regions came and took their own photographers with them, which made it not easy to get the best shots before the others The atmosphere was always perfect and friendly – good vibes all around for sure”.

Altogether we’ve seen another splendid Freestyle Feast in the Swatch Snowpark Sölden and we are already looking forward to next year!

This year, the legendary Freestyle Feast will for the sixth time rock the Swatch Snowpark Soelden on Sat, 5th of March, 2011! Traditionally, the emphasis at the Feast lies on fun: a relaxed get-together with friends, chilled out riding and party atmosphere including a BBQ will be the basis for the coolest freestyle event in the Swatch Snowpark Soelden 2011.

On March 5th, 2011, it’s party on again in the Swatch Snowpark Soelden. Park-designer Rudi Wyhlidal and his super-motivated crew are already looking forward to the bach and will put the park in perfect shape for the event.

The Freestyle Feast will be kicked off at 10:00am with a training session which gives all the riders the chance to check out the setup. As empty bellies cannot shred upright, also the BBQ will open at 10:00am so that all riders and visitors will have enough power to enjoy the feast.

At 11:00am all the shredders are invited to destroy the park at the public film and photo shooting. Everyone who always wanted to get a professional shot will have the chance to show his or her styles there. Our media team will wait at dedicated obstacles for your tricks. The steeziest performances will even make it into the official web clip!

Decently warmed up and strengthened, at 12:00am the Freestyle Feast continues with main the event of the day: at the Cash & Goodies for Tricks Session everyone has the chance to win 5€ cash and heaps of goodies from Nitro, Oakley, Moreboards and Neff. There are 250€ in the pot, so all you need to do is have fun, show your styles and earn some money.

But of course that’s not all: apart from the riding sessions, there’s a loaded program waiting for the party folks. Throughout the Feast, a speaker will heat up the freestyle crowd and keep you informed about all you need to know. For the right vibes, a DJ will provide acoustic treats and spoil the audiences with his hot tunes all day long. To round off things, there is a barbecue and cold drinks waiting for the party folks in the chill area.

So all of you who dig sick freestyle action, chilled out atmosphere and cool parties, on the 5th of March, 2011, the Swatch Snowpark Soelden is the place to be! So don’t miss out on the Freestyle Feast 2011!
