O’Neill global team rider Jeremy Jones will be hitting up Europe later this month to unveil Further, the second installment in his unique and breathtaking trilogy of big mountain snowboard films.

Jones, the 9-time Big Mountain Snowboarder of the Year, is considered by peers and fans alike to be one of the greatest freeride snowboarders of all time. With only three weeks to go before the tour kicks off, Jeremy is amped at the prospect of attending each of the seven premiere events on Further’s whirlwind tour of Europe.

And one thing’s for certain – each and every premiere event will be a fitting celebration of next-level snowboarding, with a message based around sustainability and personal responsibility running through the mind-blowing action.

The new film, shot and produced over the course of two years, showcases the world’s finest freeride snowboarding as it unfolds in some of the most remote and hard-to-access locations on the planet – with not a helicopter in sight.

“When we decided a few years ago to turn our backs on helicopters,” said Jeremy, “It was down to two big factors. Firstly, we felt it was important to minimize the impact we were having on the environment. Secondly, going back to basics, coupled with a ton of planning and commitment, has allowed us to explore areas that were previously out of reach – it’s an approach that’s changed the game, and Further is proof of that.”

For the last two winters, Jeremy and the crew at Teton Gravity Research have been working hard on producing their follow up to the acclaimed Deeper so, without further ado, here’s the first proper look at Further. It’s dramatic.

You’ll have seen glimpses of what they’ve been cooking up in the Further Unplugged webisodes and this looks like it’ll be following a similar M.O. but taking it, ahem, further. One of the trips Jeremy Jones embarked upon for his forthcoming epic, Further, was to the remote Arctic island of Svalbård. As well as having some pretty epic-looking mountains it’s also a wild place with an abundance of hazards, not least of which is getting eaten by a polar bear. On a down day, the crew prank the rookie cameraman who’d set off the bear fence accidentally already into thinking that it was dinner time and he was the main course.

Wait till he cuts himself out of his tent and bolts. Epic. But remember, don’t cry wolf.

In the first episode of the Unplugged clips accompanying Jeremy Jones’ new project Further, he travels to Japan with Josh Dirksen and Forrest Shearer.

With the help of Japanese mountain guide “Yeti” Dave, the group explores the Japanese Alps on splitboards and scores deep powder turns. But the true adventure begins when a blizzard moves in and the crew must hunker down in a high alpine refuge… Luckily we can follow this from our cosy, comfy work chairs, beds or sofas, experiencing some second-hand near deaths…
