Our flatlanded friends at Postland have just dropped their second movie. Knowing that cats and the internet go together like vodka and the energy drink of your choice, they’ve wisely dubbed their film Catscratch. It’s full of legit shredding, so go check it now. Nice job, Tim Schiphorst!

Catscratch is our second movie since the dawn of the theory, presented by Shaped Snowboarding and Monster Energy. 

Cats are hip right now but bigger brother the Lynx fucked up the main trip of our season, hence the title and the reason we leave this trend behind us right now. Bas Elhorst, Cees Wille, Gerben Verweij, Irian van Helfteren, Joey van Essen, Kas Lemmens, Kevin de Haan, Luc Büthker and Wessel van Lierop still menaged to pull off great snowboarding and laughter in our remaining winter.

Finally, Postland dropped their first full-length snowboard film: MOMENTUM, featuring some of Netherlands’ finest shredheads. We posted a couple of teasers/snippets before, and this movie is defo not letting anyone’sd expectations down!

“This is 20 minutes filled with highlights and downfalls of our last season. I don’t want to bitch about how hard it is to make a snowboardfilm, but here are some factors: We are from Holland, no mountains, no snow, injuries, travel expenses, etc. We had a lot of fun making this film, though, and are gonna do it again next season. So be aware of a shitstorm of online video’s again coming your way as soon as the snow starts falling.”

“Here’s the official video for the Skullcandy Railbattle 2011.
Gerben Verweij did a perfect job for the 5th time. A small railcontest that started off in one of our indoor slopes, now found it’s way into the sun, with every year a unique massive setup.

This year we had riders coming over from all over the Benelux and beyond. After a slow rainy start the riders started to get more and more stoked, in the finals the heat got turned up by G giving away cash for tricks. Kids chasing the loot started to drop hammers. Kas Lemmens dropped the heaviest for Best Trick, Steffen van der Land landed the most and got first. Among the girls it was again Rachida Aoulad that crushed the others and Joshua Pires wasn’t such a kid after all, he rode like a man.”

If you consider this good news there’s even more to come: Tim Shiphorst, the brain behind Momentum, just sent us an email announcing a new “Weekly Moments” episode, which basically is the Momentum making of  web show. It is good, so do us a favour and at least watch this clip, will ya?

The full movie ‘Momentum’ will drop in september, untill then we will be uploading weekly video’s. This is the fourth weekly.

We went to Oslo for a week to hunt down and shoot some Urban action. However, every spot we went to we got either kicked out, couldn’t get enough speed or there wasn’t enough snow.

After 4 days we could easily say that we have hit one spot untill then. This kind of crushed the mood so to crank things up a notch we decided to get a litlte session started on this mellow stairset, just to be snowboarding again and generally have a good time. It worked!

It was quite amazing what the shapers had built, considering there was hardly any snow left in the entire mountain range: It featured a down rail, a gas tank on a small hip including a pole jam and a wooden bank, and a straight rail to 14 steps stairset with two 9 meter down rails. The left down rail could also be ridden via a pole jam.

With everything set up and the riders already going wild on the down rail it was time for a Game of Snow. Alex Tank rolled some ‘snow dice’ that determined the tricks to be performed by each rider. Strangely enough, most of the tricks had to be approached riding switch, which showed pretty soon who got that jib game down. Or would you know how to throw down a switch FS 270 hardway to switch or switch backside lipslide pretzel, to name but two examples.

Marc Swoboda stood out the most as he had pretty much all tricks on lock and even two letters left at the end of the game. That guy is a machine, believe us! And being the nice guy he is he shared his 500 euros prize money with runner-up Toni Kerkelä from Finland. It is funny how much your style on a down rail tells about your snowboarding skills. Guys like Gerben Verweij, James Niederberger and Benny Urban were as smooth as it gets – only to fail after the umpteenth switch backside trick. And kudos to Denis Leontyev, who has those sex change swivel things on lock, a personal filmer/translator/hot girlfriend, and some custom-made gangsta pants.

The down rail action was followed by two sessions at the gas tank and the stairset, and a chilled bbq somewhere in between. The gap between the pole jam and  down rail was quite a challenge but, after a few tries, most of the riders took it apart. Speaker Jagge was eager to award the best tricks with some cash from his man-purse. And boy did we see some progressive riding: Benny Urban showed a backside 360 off the pole jam into a 50-50 backside 180ß out on the gas tank (which also scored him the best trick award and 1000 euros cash) and Dani Rajcsanyi found his infamous form just in time to stomp a BS bluntslide transfer FS bluntslide on the stairset (which was the most creative trick and also 1000 euros cash). Only the setting sun was able to end the first day of the Head Jib Factory and Marc Swoboda’s urge to stomp yet another banging trick. There was little doubt about him being awarded with the best rider overall trophy.

Unfortunately the weather changed on the second day and the contest had to be cancelled due to heavy rain. But as everyone had been shredding their brains out the day before this didn’t matter too much. Alex Tank said after the event: ”After two days of super hardcore digging in the snow we had a perfect park for the weekend which was completely taken apart by the invited guys. There where more bangers than you can imagine. Thanks a lot to all the riders, photographers and film crews. See you next time!”

Finally after a year of traveling, and filming here and there, we can finally show what we have been working on.
