There’s only one month to go until the 4th edition of gloryfy BASTARDS goes down once more in the Zillertal Arena (Austria). The national and international snowboard elite will gather on Friday, 18 January 2013 from 7 pm in the center of Gerlos to battle it out.

One month ahead of gloryfy BASTARDS 2013 freestyle fans can look forward to some of the scene’s biggest names coming to Gerlos: snowboarders like Peter König (AUT), Mario Käppeli (CH), Chris Sörman (SWE), Marius Otterstad (NOR), David Bertschinger Karg (CH) and Kim Rune Hansen (NOR) will throw down the highest level of riding off the immaculately groomed wedge. The top riders, the stunning location and the hyped up atmosphere drew more than 10,000 people to Gerlos over the last years.

As every year at the gloryfy BASTARDS event, a bunch of the world‘s best snowboarders will be invited to battle it out for a EUR 11,000 prize purse in the center of Gerlos. One of Europe’s biggest set-ups – planned and built by headshaper Manfred ‘Brandy’ Brandacher and his crew – will serve as the epic freestyle playground for the riders: 25,000 cubic metres of snow, a 15 metre high obstacle with 22 metres table and an innovative end section featuring an igloo-funbox built in cooperation with Unique Locations. And to top off all that, the entry is free for everybody!

Groundbreaking shredding is guaranteed by the international riders line-up. And of course parties of epic proportions are also part oft he BASTARDS experience: find DJs like the Wax Wreckaz, Invasion Sound, DJ NLP, Smok1ng Fing3rs, Judge Reini and DJ Philips tearing down the place at the official afterparty locations Cin-Cin, Country Club, Little London and Garage. Shuttlebusses from Mayrhofen, Fügen and Krimml ensure a quick and comfortable journey to Gerlos.

SATURDAY

The Air&Style Munich goes down. Even before the official contest we have a rail jam training vid and some big air training highlights.

SUNDAY

eBay is still the single most awesome source for snowboard gear. The Gerlos obstacles look sick. And as usual the Menthol Monday drops Sunday. And nothing else happens.

MONDAY

To be honest, much of the motivation behind this post was to promote this clip by Riley Erickson featuring Dan “Danimals” Liedahl.

Fredrik Austbo and Scott Moline have fun in bad weather (and so do the Finns). Our English ed has fun creating an Air&Style megapost. Leysin hosted the Nescafé Champs (here’s a video recap). At Equilibrium is a documentary on the Bulgarian shred scene. This Sabre edit is fairly rad. The Legendary Baker Banked Slalom took place on the weekend, and ESPN does some hero worshipping. Absinthe re-release all of their teasers. Bob Plumb is hood. The Roxy girls go Argentina. GBP goes soup kitchen. And voilà: a bowl made of snow.

TUESDAY

DC’s This is Snowboarding series continues with Devun Walsh.

Jon Weaver talks about Halldor Helgason as the modern antihero. Videograss leak some of their footage here. Chas Guldemond keeps dropping in in his webisodes. The Dew Tour went down over the weekend, and we post all relevant videos and results. Danny Davis and Stephan Maurer session The Stash at Jackson Hole. Here’s an LBS recap video. The YES. crew goes ski-dooing. And Johnny O’Connor slams. Hard.

WEDNESDAY

No doubt, the Art of Flight teaser has been the most popular piece of content this week, and we even have some additional Curt Morgan chatter.

For whatever reason, Louie Vito and Yelawolf share the same stage. Stepchild re-release their 2007 flick Child Support. The Arctic Challenge release some kind of tv teaser. The Wängl Tängl also releases a teaser. Good times. Yobeat post a slightly bizarro LBS clip. Hana Beaman is not in Utah anymore. Austin Smith and Bryan Fox slam. Very hard. And neither us nor The Mustachio really know what this one’s about, but we all like it.

THURSDAY

Here are Eiki and Halldor in their early years.

Snowboarders aim to take the power back with a charter. Chas Guldemond gives us the lowdown on the Arctic Challenge course. We didn’t know there was a German Technine team, but it is actually not too shabby. The YES. crew shreds Revelstoke. The Illicit Snowboarder examines erotic snowboard art. Finally, we get behind the scenes at the Air&Style Munich.

FRIDAY

Flying Finns Episode 2 airs, with a bluebird Copper Mountain park session to get you amped for the weekend.

Results gloryfy BASTARDS 2010 in Gerlos

Last weekend, the first Gloryfy Bastards Session went down in Gerlos/Austria. 16 riders had been invited for this corner comp, among them seasoned pros like Rudi and Chris Kröll, Reini Rieser and Wolle Beer and the young guns Werni Stock, Anthony Smits, Daniel Mösl, and Davide Beltracchi. They all attacked the nine-meter obstacle in the center of town and battled for the title „Unbreakable Team“ and the best trick award „Air of Glory“.

And unbreakable they had to be: To start things off the riders had to bomb drop into the in-run from a dredger bucket. And And apart from that conditions were quite challenging, too: Heavy snowfalls and quite flat conditions all day did not make things easier for the 16. Luckily, Banterbox MC Jon Weaver and the Wax Wreckaz DJ crew managed to get the crowd going and helped create some great vibes throughout the contest.

The qualification saw some wild stuff being thrown over the obstacle: Reini Rieser showed a six meter Alley Oop 3 Nosebone, Werni Stock performed a variety of Backside 1s and 5s over the entire obstacle, and the Kröll bros showed a couple of impressive Alley Oops and Spin variations.

The four best teams advanced to the finals, among them Davide Beltracchi and Daniel Mösl, who came in as a replacement for Swiss Corsin Simeon, who had knocked himself out during the qualifications. Mösl showed a backflip indy over the entire obstacle, and Davide some giant airs over the entire thing. This brought them the „unbreakable team“ title – quite ironic considering injured Corsin’s fate. Reini Rieser’s Alley Oop spins convinced the judges Michi Albin and Christian Reinhardt the most and brought him the „Air of Glory“ title.

And who would have thought: The great riding was topped off with a boozy after-contest party. The Wax Wreckaz and Martin „Misofon“ Misof on the mic made sure to keep the high spirits up until well into the night.
