QParks ‘COPY AND POST“ VIDEO COMPETITION

New Online Video Contest from the QParks crew.

The Dachstein Opening went off last weekend in the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein with a big bang! The sun was intense just as the action on the brand-new rail line. Even though the slushy conditions made it even harder, some really technical tricks were shown during the day and the winners of the Ride and Roar Rail Jam Session were happy to bag prizes from Horsefeathers, Blue Tomato and Adidas Eyewear. But the QParks guys still have some goodies left, and had an idea… the ‘Copy and Post’ Video Competition.

As there heaps of people shredding around with cams at the Opening, QParks decided to put on a little video contest which doesn’t request too much effort, something like a smaller version of the successful Horsefeathers King of Snow. During the Opening we saw a lot of technical tricks from a bunch of riders, and guess what…!! QParks Filmer Clemi P. captured them all! So the question is: Can you copy some of the tricks shown as stylish as guys like Marc Swoboda, Flo Galler and Felix Prankl? Just grab your GoPro cameras or your personal filmer and take part! Here is the lowdown:

Dachstein duder.

1) Starting today, Wednesday June 16th QParks will post a railbanger from the Opening on a specific obstacle on the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein Facebook site and on the parkwebsite.
2) From then on you have one week to ‘Copy and Post’ the trick on one of the two sites. It has to be the same obstacle and exactly the same trick, garnished with your individual style of course!
3) After you’ve stomped it, don’t waste time and upload it directly onto our Facebook wall or under ‘Send us Pics & Videos’ on www.dachstein.horsefeatherssuperparks.com.
4) Dont be afraid of nasty comments (which are welcome by the way) because some people will ‘like’ your bangers.
5) One winner will be awarded each week and the rating system consists of two components: a mix of ‘Likes’ on Facebook and an internal QParks judging with criteria such as style, steez and afterbang.

That’s it, as simple as. But no competition without prizes right? Besides the goodie bags they want to give you the chance to take part at a QParks shooting together with pros either in the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein during the next summer weeks, in fall or even in winter at the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai!

So let’s try this. They’ll see how many of you will take part. If they make it to 5 clips after one week, the ‘Copy and Post Video Competition’ will continue for another week. The same again continue the following week. If nobody wants to take part the competition will be cancelled right away…

So guys, get ready for the first trick, it should be doable we guess, what do you think?! Check it out here!

15 rounds of fierce trickery later the new King is crowned. His name is Martin Kalliola and he reigns in Finland!

In the finale in the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai he stomped what you voted as the most beautiful Switch BS 9 – check it out below. Besides his crown, he also earned 5.000,- USD cash and a lot of coverage. Congrats Martin!

And here’s the report from the final weekend:

Friday, Warmin Up: Horsefeathers teamrider Ville Uotila, Darek Bergmann and Jan „Honza“ Zajic as well as the photographer David Blazek and cameraman Vit Kratochvile already arrived one day before the final in the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai. The attendants turned in a good session and warmed up for the upcoming final at sunset. Due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland, only four of the ten invited riders could come – for the rest a special arrangement has been made: They could film and upload their tricks at home and hence could participate at the judging.

Saturday, Final: The motivation of Matthis Vogt (GER), Luis Gärttner (AUT), Matias Jurai (CZE) and Filip Hrkel (SVK) rose already at the collective breakfast. From 11.30 am the sun pushed its way through the clouds. Thanks to the low temperatures during the night, not only the atmosphere but also the snow conditions were ideal and provided a dignified closure of the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai.

Just having arrived on the mountain, the pro line became immediately the center of the happening. At the riders meeting we decided to hold the final at the third kicker of the triple line. Already at the second run, the Finnish Ville Uotila showed the final trick – a Switch Backside 9 – and set the bar very high for the finalists of the Horsefeathers King of S.N.O.W. The final’s on! There wasn’t a time limit for the riders: After the riders acquainted themselves with the kicker, they gradually approached the 900 degree rotation. The setup inspired the participants to a real trick-flush that came to an end almost 3 hours and some reshapes later.

And it became even thicker! Afterwards, the finalists and Horsefeathers pro team riders didn’t rest, but lively showed their 9s, 10s and double backflips! To the delight of the cameraman and the photographer who could collect plenty of material! Also QFilmer Clemens Prankl has been on site and was obviously enthusiastic: „In my opinion the last weekend was the best of the season: Many popular faces, good moods and the small but nice session at the third kicker of the pro line.“

In the chill area the tunes of SUBLIME were played in the meantime; here and there the smell of barbecue ascended and thanks to the spring weather, the numerous deck chairs were occupied by the visitors.

So contest- and farewell-atmosphere dominated the weekend, as on Sunday the boxes, rails and kickers of the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai have been shredded for the last time in this season. Despite the bar-tour alias „After Contest Party“ in the evening Clemens Prankl, QPhotographer Roland Haschka and the riders came together again on Sunday in the park to capture some good shots!

But the freestyle-depravation won’t last long: In about a month, on the 29th of May, the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein is opening its gates and guarantees for some legendary summer-shred sessions 2010!

After a long winter of stepping up and matching tricks, the finals of the Horsefeathers King of S.N.O.W. went down in the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai from April 16–18 2010. Here’s the haps…

Friday Warm Up:

Ville Uotila, Darek Bergmann and Jan ‘Honza’ Zajic as well as photographer David Blazek and cameraman Vit Kratochvile arrived the day before the final in the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai. The crew had a good session and warmed up for the upcoming final at sunset. Due to airspace chaos caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland, only four riders were able to make it – for the rest of the guys special arrangements were made: They can present, record and upload their tricks from home and hence could participate at the judging.

Saturday: Final

The motivation of Matthis Vogt (GER), Luis Gärttner (AUT), Matias Jurai (CZW) and Filip Hrkel (SVK) was already evident at the group breakfast. At the riders meeting it was decided to hold the final on the third kicker of the triple line and on only his the second run, Finnish pro Ville Uotila showed his final trick for the contestants to copy – a switch backside 9 – setting the bar pretty damn high for the finalists of the Horsefeathers King of S.N.O.W.

And there’s more… With the ‘contest’ done, the finalists and Horsefeathers pro riders didn’t rest on their laurels, they were still motivated to shred and showed their 9s, 10s and double backflips to the stoke of the cameraman and the photographer who bagged a bunch of bangers! QFilmer Clemens Prankl was on site and was opumped: “In my opinion the last weekend was the best of the season: Many popular faces, good moods and the small but nice session at the third kicker of the pro line.”

King of S.N.O.W: The Grande Finale

Four of the ten finalists could stick the final trick. Now it’s up to you to decide who is the best one!

It´s do or die now. Ville Uotila’s Switch BS 900° is the last and final trick of the event, which the 10 finalists had to redo at finals in the Horsefeathers Suparpark in Planai (AUT). And now it’s up to you to give your vote for the best one until Saturday 10:00pm (cet).

And we will soon know who will be the Horsefeathers King of S.N.O.W 2010 and gets the crown, 5.000,- USD cash and a lot of coverage.
