Horsefeathers have prepared a new edition of their snowboard camps, this time from Feb 5th – 12th in the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai in Austria.

Expect great tips, tricks and advice from Horsefeathers pros such as Michi Zirngibl, Frankie Woerndl, Dominik Brunner or Mata Molnarova, who will be ready to help you with anything you might need, starting from explaining easy tricks to teaching you how to do technical rail tricks or big rotations. Besides that they have a Nitro test center in the park, videocoaching evenings and a photoshooting day, where you’ll have the chance to get your action shot taken by a pro photographer.

The price of 310 EUR includes accommodation for 7 nights, 7 day ski pass, coaching, access to the test center as well as internet connection. Capacity of the camp is limited to 25 pers.

After a long winter of stepping up and matching tricks, the finals of the Horsefeathers King of S.N.O.W. went down in the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai from April 16–18 2010. Here’s the haps…

Friday Warm Up:

Ville Uotila, Darek Bergmann and Jan ‘Honza’ Zajic as well as photographer David Blazek and cameraman Vit Kratochvile arrived the day before the final in the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai. The crew had a good session and warmed up for the upcoming final at sunset. Due to airspace chaos caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland, only four riders were able to make it – for the rest of the guys special arrangements were made: They can present, record and upload their tricks from home and hence could participate at the judging.

Saturday: Final

The motivation of Matthis Vogt (GER), Luis Gärttner (AUT), Matias Jurai (CZW) and Filip Hrkel (SVK) was already evident at the group breakfast. From 11.30 am the sun forced its way through the clouds and, thanks to the low temperatures during the night, both the atmosphere and the snow conditions were ideal and made for a stellar last day in the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai.

From the moment the riders set foot on the mountain, the pro line immediately became the center of attention. At the riders meeting it was decided to hold the final on the third kicker of the triple line and on only his the second run, Finnish pro Ville Uotila showed his final trick for the contestants to copy – a switch backside 9 – setting the bar pretty damn high for the finalists of the Horsefeathers King of S.N.O.W.

The final’s on! There was no time limit for the riders: After they’d acquainted themselves with the kicker, they gradually stepped up to the 900 degree rotation. The setup inspired the participants to a real trick-flush that came to an end almost 3 hours and some reshapes later.

And there’s more… With the ‘contest’ done, the finalists and Horsefeathers pro riders didn’t rest on their laurels, they were still motivated to shred and showed their 9s, 10s and double backflips to the stoke of the cameraman and the photographer who bagged a bunch of bangers! QFilmer Clemens Prankl was on site and was opumped: “In my opinion the last weekend was the best of the season: Many popular faces, good moods and the small but nice session at the third kicker of the pro line.”

In the chill area the tunes of SUBLIME were played in the meantime; here and there the smell of barbecue ascended and thanks to the spring weather, the numerous deck chairs were occupied by the visitors.

So contest- and farewell-atmosphere dominated the weekend, as on Sunday the boxes, rails and kickers of the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai were razzed for the last time this season. Despite the hangover-inducing bar-tour alias “After Contest Party“ in the evening Clemens Prankl, QPhotographer Roland Haschka and the riders made it up together again on Sunday in the park to bag more good shots!

But freestyle depravation won’t last long: In about a month, on the 29th of March, the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein is opening its gates and guarantees for some legendary summer-shred sessions 2010!

Before you start riding this snowpark it’s very important to warm up your muscles. Further you should get a detailed overview of the park, the obstacles and the inruns. The best strategy is to watch the locals for a while before you hit the park or the first big kicker that comes your way! Many accidents happen because of too much or too little speed on the inrun. Speed-check is the solution! Also the best riders fall sometimes. Protection? Not bad idea! In the Horsefeathers Superpark  Planai the 10 FIS-Rules  are in force and you also have to abide the QParks-Rules! And yes, we are talking about Horsefeathers Superpark Planai…

The Planai Hochwurzen lifts have been running a Snow Park project with the Atomic Superpark (now Horsefeathers Superpark) on the Dachstein glacier for years now. Last season they extended their existing freestyle offer with the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai. Both parks are complimenting each other seasonally. And the experienced team from Qparks (Quality Snow Parks), is taking care for the top conditions in the park every day, each season, all year long.

Last week we decided to go to Horsefeathers Superpark Planai and check how is there. Nejc Ferjan and Domen Bizjak were also curios about the set-up, se they joined us for a real spring shred.

Horsefeathers Superpark Planai is offering three different levels of kickers. First, begginer kickers (three in line) are perfect for all who wants to start with jumping in the park, then on the right side of the park you can find “middle weight” kickers having from 5 m to 7 m flat (again three in a line). Next to it are their big brothers. From 13 m to 20 m flat, three in a line (kicker, kicker and a big roler). What about rails and boxes? So many possibilites that is hard to decied where to go. Again on the left side you can find small, tiny boxes for all the youngsters. Right from it, there are three lines of different obstacles. All shapes possible. Rainbow, up/down box, straight box, kinked box, and so on and on. And they were saving with rails also. From straight rail to pole jam. And three picnik tables. Sounds nice? It is…

The Horsefeatheres Superpark Planai opened its gates on the 24th of December 2009 and celebrated its Big Park Opening on the 26th of December 2009 with chilled-out vibes and perfect weather conditions. Bernd Mandlberger and his Q Parks crew took care for the park set-up of the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai. The whole beginner and intermediate section has been expanded with new rails and boxes. Only big kickers are still missing, but Santa will also take care for this.
