A Hungarian crew together with QParks filmer Balint Hambalko took a road trip up to Schladming to rock the rails, boxes and kickers. After some days of bad weather during the last week, saturday was the day were it finally opened up again. QParks met with the finish kickermachine Ville Uotila and followed him through the park. The Dachstein Opening went off last weekend in the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein with a big bang! The sun was intense just as the action on the brand-new rail line. Even though the slushy conditions made it even harder, some really technical tricks were shown during the day and the winners of the Ride and Roar Rail Jam Session were happy  to bag prizes from  Horsefeathers, Blue Tomato and Adidas Eyewear. But the QParks guys still have some goodies left, and had an idea… the ‘Copy and Post’ Video Competition.

As there heaps of people shredding around with cams at the Opening, QParks decided to put on a little video contest which doesn’t request too much effort, something like a smaller version of the successful Horsefeathers King of Snow. During the Opening we saw a lot of technical tricks from a bunch of riders, and guess what…!! QParks Filmer Clemi P. captured them all! So the question is: Can you copy some of the tricks shown as stylish as guys like Marc Swoboda, Flo Galler and Felix Prankl? Just grab your GoPro cameras or your personal filmer and take part! Here is the lowdown:

Dachstein duder.

1) Starting today, Wednesday June 16th QParks will post a railbanger from the Opening on a specific obstacle on the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein Facebook site and on the parkwebsite.
2) From then on you have one week to ‘Copy and Post’ the trick on one of the two sites. It has to be the same obstacle and exactly the same trick, garnished with your individual style of course!
3) After you’ve stomped it, don’t waste time and upload it directly onto our Facebook wall or under ‘Send us Pics & Videos’ on www.dachstein.horsefeatherssuperparks.com.
4) Dont be afraid of nasty comments (which are welcome by the way) because some people will ‘like’ your bangers.
5) One winner will be awarded each week and the rating system consists of two components: a mix of ‘Likes’ on Facebook and an internal QParks judging with criteria such as style, steez and afterbang.

That’s it, as simple as. But no competition without prizes right? Besides the goodie bags they want to give you the chance to take part at a QParks shooting together with pros either in the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein during the next summer weeks, in fall or even in winter at the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai!

So let’s try this. They’ll see how many of you will take part. If they make it to 5 clips after one week, the ‘Copy and Post Video Competition’ will continue for another week. The same again continue the following week. If nobody wants to take part the competition will be cancelled right away…

Finally the waiting for the Dachstein Summer Opening 2010 is over…

After unexpected complications during the rope revision of the Bergbahnen Dachstein caused a delay of two weeks, the last days of waiting have now arrived and we are already packing our stuff to head towards eternal winter on the Dachstein glacier. The extension of freestyle winter will be celebrated on the 12th of June 2010 at a height of 2700 meters in the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein – with a host of happenings and parties to look forward to!

New season, new obstacles

In the course of the last months, the QParks park designers thought of further innovations for the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein and expanded the setup by some new rails and boxes. The crew around park designer Andi Röck has been working on the preparation of the park area and the installation of obstacles for weeks now, in order to provide a perfect setup for the opening right in time. Andi says: “The medium line is on the left handside, the big kickers of about 17m are standing in the middle and alongside the lift, the rail line is situated! Of course there’s the new 4 rails’ – line for intermediates and pros and a couple of nice, new boxes. At the right side there’s the other line with about 12 obstacles! As every summer, you can expect a posh park, familiar faces, good friends, sick sessions and hopefully bright sunshine!”

Ride and roar on the Styrian ‘rock’

The summer-shred sessions are introduced appropriately with an awesome event program. The definite highlight of the day will be the Ride and Roar Rail Jam Session that invites snowboarders to present their best tricks in front of the freestyle community. Riders are separated into 4 subcategories such as best men, best girl, best rookie and hardest bail. All participants can freely choose one of the rails and then the jam will start at 11 o’clock! It’s as simple as it sounds, the only thing to do is riding the rail in your best possible way so you can make sure to get the loudest roars! So everyone is contest rider and judge at the same time, as your roar counts as vote for the best trick!

On Saturday the dancefloor of the CULT CLUB Schladming will crack from 10pm on under the weight of the partycrowd at the Spring-Shred Opening Party with DJ sounds by Defneetiv!

That’s why we’re pumped to hear that Dachstein will be opening its doors to the Horsefeathers SuperPark on the 29th of this month. The second event on the 19th of December 2009 was a huge success! The next Kids Snowboard Day is coming up soon on the 13th of March, and once again, it’s FREE for all kids!
At the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai, the Blue Tomato Teamriders will teach the kids some helpful tips and tricks, there will be free beginners lessons and rental equipment, as well as “learn to ride” test material by Burton, before we finish the day off with a goodie-bag giveaway at the Blue Tomato Shop in Schladming.

As an early Christmas-gift for all snowboard-fans, the Horsefeatheres Superpark Planai opens its gates on the 19th of December 2009. Its “big brother”, the Atomic Superpark Dachstein, will be open at least until the 13th December. This will be a seamless transition to the upcoming winter season and once again, the Schladming-Dachstein region provides 10 months of freestyle!

In the course of the summer 09, QParks has heavily worked on the earth-terrain-forms and now the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai lights up in a completely new shine: The complete park-area was extended, a new 3 laned medium and pro kicker-line has been installed and the whole beginner and intermediate section has been expanded with new rails and boxes. Bernd Mandlberger and his crew will prepare as many obstacles as possible for the big opening on Dec 19th. Because of the warm temperature there is unfortunately too less snow at the moment for building up a decent set-up. Against the forecast Bernd and his team have decided to set up at least the beginners line. Needless to say, they are waiting impatiently for the first “real” snow.

At the opening there will be free coaching with snowboard pro-riders such as Max Weickl who placed 3rd at the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam, be sure he can give you some helpful tips and tricks. Another highlight will be the public Photo – and Film-shooting at which all riders get the opportunity for having professional pictures taken of oneself at various obstacles. The final material can be downloaded on www.horsefeatherssuperpark.com And to be sure you won’t get bored if taking some timeout between your runs, our speaker and the tuning beats of LIVE DJ tdk will keep you entertained. To regain energy, at 2 pm the riders-special can be collected at the Weitmoosalm. There will also be some Goodies-for-Trix sessions at various obstacles at which everyone can win awesome prizes from our partners and sponsors.

Around the park-area the 2nd Blue Tomato Kids Snowboard Day will take place, where the younger audience will become the focus. Juniors will be taught the basics of snowboarding by professionals.
