In a fit of Dad-joke comedic genius we were going to title this ‘Eeros Do America’, but then we watched it, found out that as well as Eero Ettala and Eero Niemelä this also has the Scandic skills of Iikka Backstrom and Freddy Austbø in it. Oh well, it’s still a super funtime edit that will make you want to get your shred on ASAP. Check it!

There’s a good amount of mellow, fun-looking riding in this from the boys, plus some skating and general summercamp malarky. Plus there’s lots of Methods. We liked this.

DC have just unleashed the teaser for their first team movie since the Mtn Lab days. Must Be Nice is the name, and as you’d expect with dudes like Devun Walsh, Torstein Horgmo, Lauri Heiskari and Iikka Backstrom on the roster the riding looks like it’ll be off the chain. Have a sneak peek…

Do you remember this year’s Real Snow Video contest at the Winter X Games in Aspen? Louif Paradis took the victory in a field of heavy urban hitters. However, the people behind the X Games are no slouches and have revamped the Real Snow contest for the European Winter X Games in Tignes: Instead of urban riding it is now all about the backcountry.

John Jackson, Nicolas Müller, Devun Walsh, Mark Sollors, Mathieu Crepel, Iikka Backström, Gigi Rüf, and Jussi Oksanen have scoured the backcountry to produce 8 individual 90 second videos that showcase raw snowboarding talent. Watch this teaser and you’ll what this is about.

Here’s the skinny on DC’s pro model version of the MLF, the steed that Finnish ripper Iikka Backstrom sends it on all season long…

“My board fucking rips,” is what Iikka has to say about his modified MLF Pro, an old favorite of the DC team. Although to the point, his statement is a little lacking in information so allow us to expand. The MLF Ikka Pro is a regular camber, true twin, all-mountain beast of a board with all the bells and whistles – a sintered Structurn Base is scientifically proven to be faster; Carbon Quadrax fiberglass adds torsional strength and long term durability; and a Radius to Flat shape with flat surfaces at the tip and tail to provide extra lift should you be lucky enough to stumble onto a powder stash.

All these features add up to concoct a responsive, smooth and stable riding stick that is lightweight and hardwearing for a progressive ripper who wants to kill it.

Iikka Backström spent last winter filming for the 8 Mile crew movie and alongside Canadian snowboard legend Devun Walsh for their Polar Opposites web series. And while he is honing his backcountry skills he likes to listen to a variety of music – from rock ballads to folk songs and some gangsta hip-hop, too.
