A bunch of Dakine’s band of shredders made their annual pilgrimage Mt Baker for the Legendary  Banked Slalom and they made a rad edit from their time there. If you don’t know what the LBS is, this will show you why each year dudes all the way from Johnnie Paxson and Curtis Ciszek to Jamie Lynn and Terje Haakonsen make a beeline for Baker. If you know what the LBS is, you’ll want to go there even more after checking this.

Chapter 1 of the Swooshers’ team movie, The Nike Snowboarding Project, drops on October 16, but to keep our appetites wet they’ve dropped this edit of Johnnie Paxson working super hard to bag a shot in Japan. Interesting and awesome in equal measure.

Before we start waxing lyrical about Nike’s video project, look out for Peetu’s backside air towards the end of this. DOUBLE WALLOP!

Nike, it’s fair to say, are not short of a bob or two and have assembled one of the finer, all-round-ripping-from-street-to-backcountry-to-contests-to-pipe kinda teams on the planet. Look at the names, just LOOK at them. They’ve also enlisted the help of three of snowboarding’s finest filmmaking lensemen to produce three short films – Joe Carlino, Brad Kremer and Justin Hostynek – and this here is the teaser for them. A mish mash of heavy riding and dicking around that, like the team, looks like it’ll have all aspects of the shred covered.

Each filmer hooked up with a particular crew of riders and the results will be released over the coming weeks. Here’s the deets and dropping dates:

16.10.2012 – A short film by Joe Carlino. Featuring the riding of Johnnie Paxson, Jess Kimura, Halldor Helgason, Justin Bennee and Jed Anderson.

13.11.2012 – A short film by Brad Kremer. Featuring the riding of Sage Kotsenburg, Louie Vito, Gjermund Braaten, Jamie Nicholls, Danny Kass, Ethan Morgan, Jan Scherrer, Peetu Piiroinen and Austin Smith.

11.12.2012 – A short film by Justin Hostynek. Featuring the riding of Gigi Ruf, Nicolas Muller, Danny Kass and Eric Jackson.

MFM’s still a boss and Johnnie Paxson… the kid’s one of the dwindling cadre of riders that can hold it down in the city as well as in the BC. Check their parts from the banging FODT movie, Famila 2. Booom!

Paxson’s so tasty on his stunt stick he was the first rider Gigi Rüf recruited to his new brand, Slash Snowboards. His half backflip to nose press to half backflip out is nuts, but there’s way more about this part than that. And as for Mark Frank Montoya… the man’s still got one of the finest ollies in the game. It’s no secret that, along with the motorised winch, the bungee has transformed urban snowboarding and the way riders look at features downtown. What was once overlooked as speed was impossible to get is now a whole new playground to be explored.

Banshee Bungee are the best-known makers of the bungee, and have dropped this highlights reel of the bangers that were bagged thanks to their lengths of coiled rubber. With riding from Jake Kuzyk, Dan Brisse, Bode Merril and more, this is fully legit. Watch it.

Last year’s movie from FODT was pretty killer and, to be honest, somewhat of an eye-opener. We’d always got the impression that these guys were just über-gangsta (with names like Finger On Da Trigger and Technine it’s easy to see why), but while the movie focussed heavily on the crew’s affliction for hitting up sketchy, graffiti covered spots there was also enough variety in the riding to make it appeal to those not of the street-banging frat. The filming and editing were both slick, the soundtrack killer (and not all hip-hop), and the urban riding itself was enough to make even the most die-hard bearded Alp-o-phile grunt in grudging admiration.

Now they’re back with the heavy, heavy teaser for Familia 2. It is long and full of bangers. If this is just the teaser, then we’re betting the full flick will be off the hook. We’ve been hooked.

This Friday, from 4-6 pm Eastern, you’ll be able to ask the Rome SDS team whatever you’d like, and they’ll get back to you live on video.

The team is in town visiting the Rome office, so we thought we’d set up a camera for a couple hours and let snowboarders all over the word fire questions their way. On hand we’ll have Eiki Helgason, Bjorn Leines, Lucas Debari, Laurent “LNP” Paquin, Will Lavigne, Johnny Lazz, MFR, and Johnnie Paxson, and they’ll all be drifting in and out of the camera answering your questions.

There will be a few ways to check out and participate in the interview:

1. Visit our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/romesnowboards and “like” it. There we’ll have an embedded video in our update stream where all you have to do is “comment” your questions, and the team will answer.
2. Watch on the Shred Remains Blog http://www.romesnowboards.com/theshredremains/. We’ll also be streaming the interview through the Blog. You won’t really be able to ask questions through the Blog, but at least you’ll be able to see the team answer other people’s questions.
