The second event on the 19th of December 2009 was a huge success! The next Kids Snowboard Day is coming up soon on the 13th of March, and once again, it’s FREE for all kids!
At the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai, the Blue Tomato Teamriders will teach the kids some helpful tips and tricks, there will be free beginners lessons and rental equipment, as well as “learn to ride” test material by Burton, before we finish the day off with a goodie-bag giveaway at the Blue Tomato Shop in Schladming.

We all know the kids are the future. Without young stoked groms coming in to fill the ranks of us withered old farts snowboarding would quickly go the way of the hula hoop, and that would suck the big ‘un because let’s face it, hula hooping was lame-o and snowboarding most certainly ain’t.

When it comes to kids’ shred gear, there’s not a huge amount of choice for the consumer with many a rad dad or milf forced to dress their beloved spawn in pastel one-pieces from Rodeo or whatever. Gah. Several brands have been making great strides in this area over the last few years, though, and one of them is Swiss outerwear brand Zimtstern.

ISPO, the snowboard industry’s European winter trade jamboree, opens its doors in Munich this Sunday where we’ll be on the ground bringing you all the highlights of 2010/2011 kit, and their Boardsports Award jury just awarded Zimtstern’s Stars kids’ collection winner of the kids product category. This line is aimed at eight- to fourteen-year-old grommits andincludes three snowboard jackets and two pants for boys, and two jackets and a pant for girls. Complementing the outerwear is a range of accessories such as beanies, the New Era cap, pipe gloves, thermal base layers, a snowboard bag and a snowboard helmet (in cooperation with TSG), as well as street- wear clothing. The gear looks pretty dope and it’s technically good too, what with 10k waterproofness, vents and velcro closures abound, so your nippers will look the bomb and be comfortable to boot.

Zimtstern bigwig Thomas Mayer is pumped. “Wow, we are very happy to see our commitment to the stars of tomorrow become such a success even before the start of the trade show. From the very beginning we were aware of the fact that Zimtstern’s Stars Collection for the next generation of snowboarders had to be very well thought-out and designed to meet the specific demands of our target group. The Blue Tomato Kids Snowboard Day 2009 will take place on December 19th 2009 at the Planai and is of course FREE for all kids!

The kids are getting pro-tips from our Blue Tomato teamriders, who are going to support the kids with heart and soul. So if you are already bored from the normal downhill shredding and you need a new challenge, you should come by and try out the rails and boxes the funpark has to offer. But certainly we are not forgetting the beginners among yourselves. At the Blue Tomato snowboard school Planai the kids will get beginner`s courses for free, so that next time they will be able to hit the park. With a video session and the dispersal of goodie bags in the Blue Tomato Shop Schladming the Kids Snowboard Day will have its finish.
