Yep, the B *heart* girls, and have launched a new lifestyle site for women snowboarders. Here’s the talk about the all-new burtongirls.com.

If you’re a girl there’s a good chance you’ll be into this. If you’re a guy there’s talk of naked ladies parties in an article on there right now, so there’s probably even more chance you’ll be into this.

This, burtongirls.com is in the release’s words “Burton’s first online community dedicated to women and the snowboard lifestyle.“. There’s regular updates from the Burton girls team, plus some other stuff from people like that girl who was in a Calvin Klein ad which, as men we must say, leaves us perplexed by our lack of insight into the womens.

“With burtongirls.com we wanted to create a forum where girls could discover fun, unique and diverse content around the lifestyle and culture of our sport,” stated Burton President Donna Carpenter. “There are so many cool aspects to our lifestyle – from traveling and meeting people all over the world, getting to ride the best mountains on the planet and working with the best snowboarders, and burtongirls.com reflects all of that.”

Burton swordswomen like Kelly Clark, Hannah Teter, Gabi Viteri and Linn Haug are involved in the site’s embryonic stage, sharing stories about their haps on and off the hill, fitness, fashion, food and more. And backing them up is a diverse crew of cool and talented women who’re spit into separate categories.

The ‘Burtonistas’ are the likes of the aformentioned model, Noot Seear, who are outside contributors from fashion, entertainment, cuisine, photography, snowboarding and more. Others include actress Joy Bryant, DJ Jasmine Solano, and the Barefoot Contessa, just to name a few. Then there is the ‘Inner Voice’ group, focussing on women who work behind the scenes at Burton for an inside perspective. Finally, the site features updates from Burton’s Shopgirls program, a group of girls who work in snowboard shops and who really are some of the most passionate snowboarders around.

As well as all this, the site also allows girls to check out the ultimate Burton outfits, share content via Facebook and Twitter, and coming soon will be great calendar info on all the awesome events happening throughout the winter.

If you’re a girl, you can see what happened at the launch party in the video at the top, and what some of the women involved have to say. If you’re a teenage boy in either both body or mind, this has women dancing in it.

Like it or not, Twitter has become a great way for a lot of people to communicate. Snowboarders are no different from you and me, and a lot of them have taken to the easy-to-use short message system that Twitter is. Through our own humble participation via @onboardmag we convinced ourselves that we know something about the snowboard scene on Twitter. And since it is such a beautiful way to get the latest news, to keep in touch and to avoid being productive at all we share with you our list of the 11 snowboarders you should follow on Twitter.

The Norwegian Black Metal follower and Pirate is also one of the few Europeans who are actively using Twitter and not just cross-post stuff from their Facebook. More than enough reason to follow him!

With the inception of the WAS riders’ union the Rockstar rider has recently become some sort of spokesman for the snowboard community. Also included in his tweets: sunbathing pics of his girlfriend.

Louie Vito

He is what most people expect Shaun White to be on Facebook: witty, engaging and endorsed by almost 40,000 followers.

Jack Mitrani

Just follow Jack and stay up to date with everything related to Frends (@wearefrends), @scottylago, @lukemitrani, @kevinpearce, Mason Aguirre (@maseintheplace) or Danny Davis (@theddeadshow).

Jamie Nicholls

Jamie is from a new breed of European riders. He is down with his website, facebook, and also very active on Twitter. Hell, even his sister has a Twitter account.

Jeremy Jones

Freerider Jeremy Jones might be a little more serious than most other riders on Twitter, but in return you’ll get the latest on his gnarly backcountry adventures, POW acitivities (@protectwinters) and other climate-change related news.

Silje Norendal

This young Norwegian is on her way up. If you don’t mind the odd Scandinavian mumbo-jumbo you’ll get a good insight into her shenanigans.

Jamie Anderson

As long as this girl from Lake Tahoe keeps winning competitions all over the place, her tweets will remain just as interesting.

Elena Hight & Linn Haug

If you’re into the classic unfiltered “Had yummy cereals for breakfast” kind of tweets, these two female riders will be your bowl of Kellogg’s.

Nate Bozung

He might have moved away from the core snowboard scene but his stream-of-unconsciousness straight from NYC is highly captivating.

Once again the first contest of the year, the O’Neill Evolution kicked off with the Women’s Pipe Qualifiers today.

Under wonderful winter sun, 37 girls battled each other to bag one of the eight slots to participate in the semi finals on Wednesday and ride side by side with the likes of Kjersti Buaas or Silvia Mittermüller. Norwegian Linn Haug and her FS 5 Mc Twist gained her the pole position, followed by French lasses Clémence Grimal und Anne-Sophie Pellissier.

The majority of nations have made the final selection of who’ll go to Vancouver. See who’ll be flying the flag for you.

So there we were, tapping up our contacts at the various national snowboard organisations trying to get a definitive list of all the guys and girls who’ll be repping their countries in the pipe at the upcoming Olympics and, wouldn’t you know, our homies over at the Swatch TTR World Tour beat us to the punch. Thanks guys!

It must be said, it can often seem the selection process is more confusing than an algebra exam, with each country having different required criteria, and for the riders bidding to go it must certainly be a nerve-wracking experience waiting to see if all the points tally right and planets have aligned properly. But now, for most, the wait is over.

As ever there’s some big names who didn’t make it and some relative unknowns who did so, drum roll please, here’s who’s announced their pipe ninjas so far…
