Check how you can win yourself one of these epic steeds adorned with the Looking Sideways Eyes…

One of the highlights of last season’s epic Vans Wangl Tangl was without doubt the art exhibition put on during the week by our friends at Looking Sideways. Our favourite exhibit? The crowd-sourced Eyes mural created throughout the week from images of eyes, erm, looking sideways sent in by visitors to Looking Sideways website. Check the video we posted in one of our daily reports at the time to see how the piece came together.

Not that it finished there. The next stage saw Looking Sideways collaborate with Canadian board company Endeavor to create a set of limited edition snowboards that use the finished mural as the basis for the graphics.There are only a few of these completely unique boards being made, and all of them are being given to winners chosen from those who sent in their eyes in the first place.

Well, almost all of them. Arms were twisted and there’s a couple of these boards to be won even if you didn’t submit pics of your peepers. To do so, simply answer this ridiculously simple question:

The travelling boardsport art showcase have added the likes of Ed Templeton, Danny Wainwright, Tristan Huber and Danny Larsen to their roster of rider/artists who’ll be exhibiting at the anniversary edition of the Wängl.

Of course, snowboarding and skateboarding are integral components of what’s made the Wängl Tängl such a success over the past 10 years, but perhaps equally important is the Ästhetiker crew’s immersion in the world of boardsport art. Looking Sideways, a collective dedicated to showcasing the work of riders who’ve also applied their creative skills to art, will be at the Wängl and have just announced more talented guys who’ll be exhibiting. Ed, Danny, Tristan and Larsen will hook up with the guys already on the program - Corey Smith, Fos, French, Schoph and Blaise Rosenthal – to complete a line up that brings together some of the boardsports world’s key artistic talents.

“I’m very excited to be showing my work in Europe for the first time as part of the Looking Sideways exhibition at Wängl Tängl” says Corey Smith. “There are too many events and contests put on by promoters that don’t truly ‘get’ snowboarding and are doing it for the wrong reasons. I think it is very important to positively and creatively contribute to snowboarding culture, and what Wängl Tängl and Looking Sideways are doing is really special”.

The exhibition is being held at Mayrhofen’s Europahaus gallery between Tuesday 20th and Friday 23rd of March, and will feature a number of works from each of the ten artists.

Even more interesting from a ‘me me me’ perspective is that Friday’s closing show will also see the completion of a live art piece being created throughout the week by Looking Sideways art director Owen Tozer and exhibiting artist Schoph. The piece will be created using images sent in by members of the public, who were invited to contribute to the project by uploading images of their eyes looking sideways to the LS Facebook page, or by emailing them to eyes@wearelookingsideways.com.

The finished work will then be used to create the graphics for an exclusive run of limited edition Looking Sideways/Endeavor snowboards, with the winners of the boards chosen from those who contributed images.
