Xavier De Le Rue and Lucas Debari know how a base camp should look when they’re out in search of gnarly lines. You want it to be warm and cosy to come back to after a day out and about looking for your untracked lines in Antarctica. The guys figured they’d show us round their yacht ‘The Golden Fleece’ in true Cribs stylee. On the pimped out scale, their floating pad has to be somewhere above Jeremy Jones’ tent and below Richard Branson’s island mansion. Worth a peep.

Do you remember snowboard photographer Liam Gallagher’s film project The Mad Ones? Him and a select crew of thinking snowboarders created a web series inspired by the writings of the Beat generation. With their new project ‘Search for a Cool Place‘ they pick up where they left of: Art school meets pow slashing meets beat poetry. Not sure if as many family members will ask me about this as they did about Art of Flight, but it has a great vibe to it, and offers some unique perspectives on snowboarders’ lives on the road.

After Jack Kerouac and The Beats came Ken Kesey and his Merry Band of Pranksters. Kesey was a best-selling author turned acid-freak, who was largely responsible for the psychedelic revolution of the 1960s. But, before Kesey and crew started frying the masses, they took a trip across the country in a 1938 International school bus. They dubbed the rig Further and their mission was simple: they were searching for a cool place. Just like us…

As you may know, Xavier De Le Rue convinced The North Face and Swatch to help send him and his buddie Lucas Debari to ride the mostly untouched peaks of Antarctica. Here’s episode 1 of the trip. Even though there’s zero snowboarding it still manages to be fully nuts.

When Xavier de Le Rue convinced his main partners The North Face and Swatch to help him set up a dream trip he had in mind, he didn’t think it would end up being that good. The expedition with Lucas Debari, on a small boat, to seek the best playground down in Antarctic was a great success. The lines between snowboarding and mountaineering blur in this latest episode of Xavier De Le Rue’s Timeline series. The crew go scoping by plane and find a new zone in Mont Blanc’s cleavage, so Xavier and Lucas Debari strike out to ride it.

Xavier de Le Rue and the TimeLine crew and went on a scoping session by plane and spotted a new zone in the hearth of the alps at the bottom of the Mt Blanc. After a day spent on site to check the conditions, Xavier invited his team mate Lucas Debari to test his new “Ice Laboratory” for a session combining, mountaineering, ice climbing and snowboarding.
