Rip Curl gives us all an early Xmas present: The Full Gum Movie. How considerate.

This early season is starting not too bad: our European mountains start to be covered with fresh snow, last week-end 2 of our riders made a 5*TTR podium in Stuttgart! (Elias Elhardt won and Victor De Le Rue got 2nd) and Lucile Lefèvre, our young Frenchie rider, won the Halfpipe World Cup in Ruka!!

But last season, there was no snow in Europe, and that was just a good reason for our riders to start to live the search and discover new spots. From Argentina to Japan, the only thing they had in mind was powder!!!

This movie deals with their moves all around the world, and we’re happy to share this epic snowboard adventure as a special Xmas present!!

Rip Curl have started releasing their team flick, GUM Movie, in parts so you can see guys like Nils Arvidsson, Elias Elhardt and Janne Lipsanen getting it done. This is the first part to drop and, after a fairly bizarre intro, it’s on.

Here’s the party line…

No snow equals adventure. Quite simply the best way to sum up our season. After a snowless winter in Europe our thirst for freshies got us on the move and pushed us out of our homelands to the four corners of the world: the best thing that could ever happen to us!

For Janne and the two Victors, it was a first time ride down the mystic mountains of Japan. For Urska, Nate and Nils it was a first and unique experience while following JF into Canada’s immensity. And if you ask Wiley and Elias, they’ll be quick to remember an epic barbecue at sunset on the flanks of the Andes.

Rip Curl’s team of shredders are a diverse bunch from across Europe and beyond, and this season’s Welcome Home 2 follows some of their big guns welcoming other members of the team to their home mountains. Now, after 4 months of regular webisodes, Welcome Home II is ready to be broadcasted worldwide in full!

Welcome Home Vol. II was the second chapter of our riders’ adventures on the Search mission. Once again, Rip Curl joined forces with French Kiss Production and Freestudios Creative Media Production to release this brand new snowboarding movie. Our team visited fellow riders around the globe to find those backcountry gems that dreams are made of. The movie showcases riding in Argentina (Matti Radaelli), Germany and Austria (Elias Elhardt), Switzerland (Martin Seiller) and finally Sweden with the legendary area of Riksgransen.

The riders wanted to go back to the essence of a ‘feel good’ road trip and found themselves in lesser known territories, spending a lot of time riding out of mountain refuges. This proved to be the way to get the best out of their skills, as you will see…

“To have my team mates and friends over at my house is always something very exciting. You end up asking yourself if they’re going to behave like on a ‘normal’ trip, meaning riders spreading their stuff all over the house and procrastinating on the dishes… But in the end it went smoothly, we had a blast on and off the snow (après-ski!). It’s really cool to guide your friends around your own riding area and show them the house where you grew up.” says Elias.

The film crew was as always made up of Julien Mata, Olivier Pictet and even got Jaime Benicio as a rooky. For photos, the cream of the crop once again consisted of Rémi Petit, Eric Bergeri, Matt Georges and is completed by the emergin talent of Jérôme Tanon.

They had to put it all out to come back with the best pictures and film, Olivier coming in first place with a puke-athon (seven times!) during a heliboarding day… unforgettable!

Welcome Home Vol. II is the second chapter of the Rip Curl riders’ adventures within their Search mission. This full spectrum of Search missions saw all sorts of harsh snow conditions which got the best out of the riders, always ready to get on the move. The desire to go back to the essence of a road trip, with a dash of surprise, brought the crew to spend numerous and memorable nights in mountain refuges in the resorts visited. There was nothing better to get the team closer together (no pun intended). The riders were able to enjoy the first light of the morning to shape and ride, drop and slide anything and everything that they had found during their previous days of search.
