I was tempted to write about the unlikeliness of our readership to ever ride at Mountain High in Southern California, but then I looked at our website logo and remembered we are the authority on “global snowboarding”, which makes this teaser kind of relevant.

Coming in Fall 2012, Mountain High’s first full length snowboarding film featuring MFM, Kyle Lopiccolo, Nick Visconti, Harrison Gordon, Spencer Link, Cory Cronk, Trever Haas, and Ryan Paul.

FODT hit up Snowbird the other day and scored a day of epic resort pow with ya boy MFM and cockney geezer Stevie Bell. GoPro faceblammers all the way.

Last week the Bird got hit with a solid storm and Marco and Stevie were there to take advantage. Check the GoPro footy of some waist deep pow turns.

MFM’s still a boss and Johnnie Paxson… the kid’s one of the dwindling cadre of riders that can hold it down in the city as well as in the BC. Check their parts from the banging FODT movie, Famila 2. Booom!

Paxson’s so tasty on his stunt stick he was the first rider Gigi Rüf recruited to his new brand, Slash Snowboards. His half backflip to nose press to half backflip out is nuts, but there’s way more about this part than that. And as for Mark Frank Montoya… the man’s still got one of the finest ollies in the game. It’s a classic for this week’s Time Travel Tuesday as Mark Frank Montoya – aka MFM – Gs up, Hos down his way through his part in Kingpin Productions’ Back in Black. Have a look…

For all his faux gangsta image and his bizarre new career as a guy who tells you how to make money, there’s no doubt MFM is the man. After all, the G thang was just a gag, some people are apparently into becoming RICH BEYOND THEIR WILDEST DREAMS!!!, and the fact is that he became one of the definitions of style in the sport for many years. He even got to a point where he didn’t even need to grab anymore (or spin for that matter – check the ollie at 1.22). MFM’s also a snowboarder who enjoys slashing skiers, and even without the aforementioned this would be enough for us to give him the thumbs up.

In this part from Kingpin’s early 2000′s release Back in Black, MFM lip syncs to Kool G Rap’s Thug for Life with mucho gusto. That set tongues wagging on its own, but there’s no denying the shred skills on show here either. The double kicker line at 2.09 and the double cliff clearance at 2.35 are our personal highlights, but there’s mo’ to be sho’. Last year’s movie from FODT was pretty killer and, to be honest, somewhat of an eye-opener. We’d always got the impression that these guys were just über-gangsta (with names like Finger On Da Trigger and Technine it’s easy to see why), but while the movie focussed heavily on the crew’s affliction for hitting up sketchy, graffiti covered spots there was also enough variety in the riding to make it appeal to those not of the street-banging frat. The filming and editing were both slick, the soundtrack killer (and not all hip-hop), and the urban riding itself was enough to make even the most die-hard bearded Alp-o-phile grunt in grudging admiration.

Now they’re back with the heavy, heavy teaser for Familia 2. It is long and full of bangers. If this is just the teaser, then we’re betting the full flick will be off the hook. We’ve been hooked.

MONDAY

We create an extraordinarily popular X Games: All Winners, All Videos post. (and Yobeat missed them alltogether) The Helgasons release a teaser for Sexual Snowboarding, and Sandbox their Day and Age teaser. Xavier De Le Rue is out and about in Japan. Videograss release an early Shoot the Moon teaser. Heikki, Eero, Fredu and Markku ride rails in Helsinki. Nick Lipton explains why he didn’t go to SIA. MFM scores some pow. Play Dirty is a new French web thing from Salomon. Rüf, Longo and Sandbech are featured in an interesting Burn spot. Keep the Change go Elm Creek. And you have to ask yourself the question ‘If it’s not a Burton, why would I want it?‘

TUESDAY
