With the MOREBOARDS Stubai Premiere, the snowpark on Stubai Glacier in Tyrol, Austria, opened the doors for another winter season from October 19th to 21st 2012. With bluebird and balmy temperatures, everyone had a blast shredding, testing and celebrating all weekend long. Good times!

From October 19th to 21st 2012, three days of action went down on Stubai Glacier in Tyrol, Austria. Beside the brand-new hardware out of the Brandsaloon, all kinds of sun protection were at a premium this weekend. No wonder with three days of sunny skies and decent temperatures!

All three days, the brandsaloon at the Eisgrat mountain station was full to bursting and everyone was in good spirits, testing the hardware of 40 brands for free, sunbathing and chatting with friends or shredding the staircase in the DC Jib Garden. German rider Chris Boehnke took first place on the podium of the DC Jib Garden Battle on Sunday, followed by the two Slovenes Andrej Marinic and Nejc Ferjan in second and third place.

On Saturday, the Volcom Stubai Snakepit took place with thirty competing pro and amateur riders. Elias Elhardt (GER), Peter König (AUT), Denis Leontyev (RUS) and Jesse Augustinus (NED) obviously had fun on the special setup consisting of a banked slalom followed by a jib feature. Finally it was Marc Swoboda (AUT), who convinced the judges with his combination of a race-fitting slalom technique and a perfect switch backside lipslide on the down rail. Frenchman Arthur Longo became second and previous year´s winner Simon Pircher (AUT) climbed the podium in third place.

Apart from that, it has been kind of intense at MOREBOARDS Stubai Zoo all weekend long. Salomon pro rider Chris Grenier came travelling from the United States to shred the park together with the kids. A vast number of riders attended the Skullcandy Trick Sessions or the Billabong Surpize Jam and raked in some cash and prizes. It was great to see that everyone was having a good time back on snow again.

What may not be missing on a weekend like this? Exactly, the parties! The party weekend started with the Forum Warm-Up Party on Friday night. Two nights with acts like the Mando Diao DJ Team, Nasty Mondays or the Drunken Masters, were enough reason to celebrate every night until early morning. Many thanks at this point to Four Seasons Travel, who have been shuttling all artists for the shows. In the light of recent happenings, our thoughts are with our friends from Forum Snowboards. The Warm-Up Party with „#Forum“ video premiere was the shit – we live Forum forever!

Over the past few seasons, the Austrian glacier of Stubai has quickly established itself as a heavyweight in the pre-season park circuit thanks to its easy access, finely crafted park (affectionally known as the Stubai Zoo) and – specifically – three days of bang-filled riding, kit testing and partying to ring in the new season’s park under the banner of the MOREBOARDS Stubai Premiere.

It’s always positive to see a resort investing in quality shred terrain – especially one where riders can warm their legs pre-season as they’re few and far between – and the shapers did an epic job of pushing the recent snowfall about to create a hit-filled few hectares with something for every level of rider. From a couple of pro-sized wedges to a medium line to one aimed at rookies, jumpers were amply taken care of, and as for jibbers the space not taken up by kickers was littered with an array of jibs in all shapes and sizes.

Punters who’d made their way up the hill were greeted by a village of 50 or so easyups from all the major shred brands eager to have them test their new gear, burden them with stickers or warm their cockles with a cheeky schnapps or two. From there it was only a quick gondola ride to access the park, where a host of local rippers and pro duders were attacking he setup.

Over the three days there were several different jam sessions in various areas of the Stubai Zoo, the highlight of Saturday’s action going down in the epic-looking Volcom Snakepit – a banked slalom course stuffed with a selection of barrels and bonks that lead into a jib hit with a box and a flat-down bar to add some steeze to the proceedings. Riders like Arthur Longo, Mario Käppeli, DBK and Peter König battled it out in the contest that was part race, part jib comp, ragging it through the slalom, dodging an inebriated Ethan Morgan and then throwing down on the rails. How they scored it was a mystery, but Marc Swoboda was adjudged to have raced fastest and jibbed hardest and took the cash at the end of this fun arvo in the sun. You couldn’t say he didn’t deserve it either – the boy knows how to work his board for speed and thos switch back lips of his are just the bomb.

Sunday saw more cash thrown about with gay abandon in a couple on the pro line in the Billabong Surprise Jam and the Skullcandy Trick Session. Benny Wetscher and Mario Wanger were turning heads on the kickers, and when that wrapped up it was a short slide down to the jib zone. In the Skullcandy Trick Session, Michi Schatz was teching the hell out of the down-flat-down barrel, Denis Leontyev was doing his ‘Bonus’ thing and several other guys were bossing it whose names we should have nabbed but we were too busy going ‘wow’. Especially the grommet who was gapping onto the DFD barrel. Props!

Following schnitzel it was time for the DC Jib Garden Battle by the brands area. This saw a bunch of good jibbing go down, as well as some frankly brutal slams – there were more than a couple of guys who came off worse for trying to Glasgow kiss the stairs. Again, cash was thrown at the guys who stomped the sickness, plus at the end of the session the judges settled on a top 3 and rewarded them with more cash, DC swag, MOREBOARDS decks and more. The top spot went to Chris Böhnke who’d crushed it all afternoon who placed ahead of a couple of Slovenians who’d impressed us too.

And with that, the MOREBOARDS Stubai Premiere 2012 came to a close. Great riding, great park, great parties, great schnitzel… We’ll be back next year and we’d suggest you should be too.

The Schneestern shape crew finished building up all obstacles on Thursday. With beautiful weather, pros like Mario Käppeli, Flo Corzelius or Gabor Abonyi already had their first warm-up runs and tons of fun. Fresh snowfall means the park is fully locked and loaded for this weekend’s MOREBOARDS Stubai Premiere 2012. Get yo asses there…

The recent snowfalls that dumped their load on central Europe’s higher peaks over the last few days has meant the Stubai glacier shaping crew have had plenty to work with and have been able to finish off a fully constructed park for this weekend’s season kick-off event, the MOREBOARDS Stubai Premiere.

60 centimetres of fresh snow have come down on Stubai Glacier early this week! Since Monday, the shape team has been working day and night on the construction of the snowpark. Just in time for the start of the big Park Opening Event this Friday, 19.10.2012, the setup will be ready for  shredding in full size. Not only the big kicker line, but also a huge number of rails, boxes and smaller jumps on the medium and pro line will be in best shape all weekend long as well as the stairset right by the brandsaloon.

Pros like Jed Anderson (USA), Gigi Ruef (AUT) Elias Elhardt (GER), Arthur Longo (FRA) and Kevin Backstrom (SWE) are already looking forward to three sick days at the MOREBOARDS Stubai Zoo and three crazy nights out at different parties in Neustift in the Stubai Valley. Will you be there, too?

The final countdown is on! The MOREBOARDS Stubai Premiere 2012 is just around the corner. With a versatile snowpark, several side events and an extensive party schedule, the opening event will fire the starting shot for the upcoming winter season on Stubai Glacier in Tirol, Austria.

Ready to go! The programme of the MOREBOARDS Stubai Premiere, which will go down on Stubai Glacier from October 19th to 21st 2012, is fixed and will be full of suprises:

Free Hardware Testing with 40 Brands & Staircase Setup at the Brandsaloon
Burton, Nitro, Rome, Slash, Artec, Lobster, Ride, Lib Tech, Arnette and many more – at the Brandsaloon close to the Eisgrat mountain station all the brand-new hardware of 2012/2013 can be rented and tested.

In the adjacent DC Jib Garden the stairset with a down rail and double kinked rail will be jibbed to a fare-thee-well. On Sunday, the DC Jib Garden Battle is going to bring up one thousand Euros of cash and tons of prizes from DC Shoes.

Snowpark & Side Events for every Taste
On the great setup of the MOREBOARDS Stubai Zoo, a great number of kickers, boxes and rails will be ready to rock in newly arranged lines. which will remain open for everyone during the entire opening event. The setup will be a delight for all riding levels from beginners to intermedates and up to pro riders like Elias Elhardt, Eric Beauchemin, Gigi Ruef and Jed Anderson.

Speaking Jed Anderson – the US pro will be on hand for the Salomon Warm-Up Runs and cruise around the park with all motivated riders, who are keen on some tipps or just having a great time.

All the other side events such as the der Volcom Stubai Snakepit, the Billabong Surprize Jam and the Skullcandy Tricks Sessions will also bring a lot of fun and you can either watch the action of the pros or rake in some cash and goodies for yourself.

Forum Warm-Up Party, Big Opening Party & Pirate Breakfast
The party weekend will be kicking off on Friday with the Forum Warm-Up Party and the Nasty Mondays DJ Team, the Drunken Masters and further acts in the village of Neustift in Stubai Valley. Among others, the Mando Diao DJ Team, the Wax Wreckaz and Get Addicted will be playing at the Big Opening Party on Saturday. The Scala Club wlll be the stage of the official After-After Party on Sunday morning. From 06.00 a.m. on, the Pirate Breakfast is going to bring up all you need after a long party night: Tradtional Bavarian Weisswurst & Weissbier and the Pirate Movie Production Unique8 Video Premiere.

During the MOREBOARDS Stubai Premiere, from 19 to 21 October 2012, the DC Jib Garden also opens its gate for the upcoming season. Moreboards presented another edition of their Stubai Premiere last weekend, and this highlights edit shows what went down. In short: goodtimes.

Stubai’s Zoo park was the third glacier park in Austria to get an official opening weekend, following on from Hintertux and Kaunertal, and a good crew of riders and public showed up to enjoy the fun.
