Since it is such a beautiful way to get the latest news, to keep in touch and to avoid being productive at all we share with you our list of the 11 snowboarders you should follow on Twitter.

Like it or not, Twitter has become a great way for a lot of people to communicate. Snowboarders are no different from you and me, and a lot of them have taken to the easy-to-use short message system that Twitter is. Through our own humble participation via @onboardmag we convinced ourselves that we know something about the snowboard scene on Twitter. And since it is such a beautiful way to get the latest news, to keep in touch and to avoid being productive at all we share with you our list of the 11 snowboarders you should follow on Twitter.

Danny Larsen

The Norwegian Black Metal follower and Pirate is also one of the few Europeans who are actively using Twitter and not just cross-post stuff from their Facebook. More than enough reason to follow him!

Chas Guldemond

With the inception of the WAS riders’ union the Rockstar rider has recently become some sort of spokesman for the snowboard community. Also included in his tweets: sunbathing pics of his girlfriend.

Louie Vito

He is what most people expect Shaun White to be on Facebook: witty, engaging and endorsed by almost 40,000 followers.

Jack Mitrani

Just follow Jack and stay up to date with everything related to Frends (@wearefrends), @scottylago, @lukemitrani, @kevinpearce, Mason Aguirre (@maseintheplace) or Danny Davis (@theddeadshow).
// ]]>

Jamie Nicholls

Jamie is from a new breed of European riders. He is down with his website, facebook, and also very active on Twitter. Hell, even his sister has a Twitter account.

Jeremy Jones

Freerider Jeremy Jones might be a little more serious than most other riders on Twitter, but in return you’ll get the latest on his gnarly backcountry adventures, POW acitivities (@protectwinters) and other climate-change related news.

Elena Hight & Linn Haug

If you’re into the classic unfiltered “Had yummy cereals for breakfast” kind of tweets, these two female riders will be your bowl of Kellogg’s.

Primo footage from back in the day showcasing urban shredgends breaking ground. Watch it.

If you don’t know who JP Walker is you can’t call yourself a snowboarder. Simple as that. JP and his cronies were responsible for ushering in the second wave of jibbing and arguably laid the blueprint for anyone who takes urban snowboarding seriously these days.

A couple weeks back he released some raw, uncut footage from downtown sessions in the 1999-2000 season which was an awesome chance to relive some legends breaking boundaries. Sure, the rails and tricks look tame by todays’s standards but at the time it was nothing short of cutting edge. As David Benedek once told us, “Watching those videos back then me and my friends were all sure they must have a special channel in their bases that allowed them to lock onto nosepresses. We just couldn’t imagine how they would be possible without.”

And now Walker’s dropped Reel Raw 1999-2000 Take Two, which is more of the same goodness. Check out JP Walker himself along with Jeremy Jones, Brian Thien, Mikey LeBlanc and Nate Bozung sessioning The Brickyard, Lindsey Gardens and The Rail Garden. Is it JP or Jeremy that has the hissy fit and gives his board a beating before chucking it over a wall?

And here’s the first batch, aka Take One in case you missed it. Loving it.

Euro Gap Week carries on regardless with the full-length movie Euro Gap 2 for your viewing pleasure. More random acts of idiocy and sick riding from back in the day featuring some of the shred scene’s legends. Make sure you check eurogapmovie.com on November 7…

As you’ll have seen on Monday the Euro Gap 1 was nothing short of epic, so is this like their Empire Strikes Back? Kinda double awesome? Set aside 30 minutes, click Play and find out for yourselves.

Here’s the blurb from the back of the box, which we lost, so you’ll have to make do with this awesome screengrab of Paavo. Pretty much sums up the vibe perfectly…

A movie about snowboarding, skateboarding and the crusades of Joni and Paavo.

Featuring: Nate Bozung, Ingemar Backman, JP Walker, Jonas Emery, Wille Yli-Luoma, Devun Walsh, Tero Ainonen, BJ Leines, Steve Ruff, Jeremy Jones, Sebu Kuhlberg and many more…

Filmed on locations at Finland, Brazil, Norway, Japan, USA, Europe…

With the eagerly awaited Euro Gap 3 set to drop on November 7, we're ramping up for it with Euro Gap Week and kick off by showing the first film in full.

With the eagerly awaited Euro Gap 3 set to drop on November 7, we’re getting the party started early and ramping up for it with Euro Gap Week, which kicks off today with the first film in full.

Over the course of the next 5 days we’ll also be showing Euro Gap 2 in its entirety, plus we’ve got interviews with young gun Niki Korpela, Euro Gap bozzbozz Joni Malmi and director of this third installment, Jaakko Itäaho.

The first couple of Euro Gaps were low-budget, handicam buddie movies produced by Malmi and Paavo Tikkanen. But when you’re in the pack of big guns and your buddies are some of the best riders of the time, the result was a duology that had some solid riding topped up with the kind of dicking around you’d expect from a crew of lads touring the globe. Think the Whiskey or Wildcats movies but with more vodka and paddling pool parties.

That was that, until a little over a year ago when Jaakko Itäaho (of Elekrep and MDP fame), burned out with his experience on the Burton movie, was talking with Malmi about ways to get the love back and produce a film with no pressures, no outside involvement, just fun-plus-bangers. Before they knew it, Eero Ettala was onboard, filming solely for the project, and a murder of other Scandis were quick to follow suit. Euro Gap 3 was born…

Though the final installment of the trilogy promises to have the kind of high-grade filming and editing that Jaakko has made his name with, by the look of the Euro Gap 3 teaser, they ain’t ditched the fuckwittery either. And with a roster that reads like a who’s who of Scandinavian badasses – Eero Ettala, Heikki Sorsa, Hampus Mosesson, Joni Malmi, Niki Korpela, Fredu Sirviö and Markku Koski – you can be sure you’re gonna want to be by a computer come November 7.

In the meantime enjoy Euro Gap 1, and tune in tomorrow for more…

Keegan Valaika, Nate Bozung, Jonas Michilot and some more of their friends have launched Gnarly Clothes. The convenient thing is that all of them are their own teamriders, too. How those contract negotiations work we don’t know but it sounds like fun, which is what life should be about. But let’s have the newly found brand speak for itself:

“Before you go off thinking we’re some kook-ass xtreme sports fanatics who do gnarly maneuvers all day let me tell you what we’re about. We got into this because we wanted to show the world that not all of snowboarding is wack. Unfortunately the majority is though. As embarrassed as we are to say we’re part of it, we can’t just let it die. The way we see it, this really shouldn’t be too difficult. We put people on the team and let them do what they want. We’re just here to have a good time. Above all… Don’t take us too seriously. We called this thing gnarly, sorry if you don’t get it.”

Their product is supposed to drop in stores this month, but this will most likely mean somewhere close to their Laguna Beach HQ.

For more information check out their website/blog www.gnarlyclothes.com!
