What do you do if you’re Nike, have a recently assembled crew of überrippers and a couple a quid you found down the back of the sofa? You hire out a corner of Norwegian glacier for your team-members to throw down and get to know each other, invite along a couple of other duders for the ride and let them have at some killer terrain shaped purely for progression. The venue, Folgefonna, Norway. The aim, to create a session that ends the season on a high and to get some of the great snowboarding minds together to push creativity and progression in the 20 hours of sunlight that Norwegian summers have to offer. With a set up created by legendary shaper Lars Eriksen, everything was in place to pretend we were back on those old computers experimenting with what was and wasn’t possible. Bring on the ‘The Nike 6.0 D-Pad Session’. The dozen riders selected for the task was a mix of established names who gave their take on modern snowboarding and next generation riders who did their part to kick snowboarding into the future: Gjermund Bråten, Ethan Morgan, Gerome Mathieu, Ståle Sandbech, Jamie Nicholls, Terje Håkonsen, Jake Blauvelt, Matt Ladley, Mason Aguirre, Eero Ettala, Kevin Bäckström and Erik Botner. And after seeing the footage, it is safe to say that the future of snowboarding is in safe hands.

While ispo is mainly about checking out the new gear and having the one or other beer, Nike also brought some shred to the trade fair this year. At least close to it, precisely to an abandoned farm aka the Heisäpark close to Munich, where they invited some riders for a special Best Trick session. For a total prize purse of €10.000, invited riders including Jed Anderson, Nick Visconte, Louis-Felix Paradis, Marc Swoboda, and many more brought on their best tricks.

Nike 6.0 supported the locals, including teamrider Basti Rittig, in setting up a stunning jib park, made out of natural materials that served as the location for this stunning event.

And naturally, the park will be around for the locals to shred whenever there is snow…

Though Franck Moissonnier has come to the end of his stash of webisodes for the time being (he’s just back from Hawaii and about to get on with filming some more Ride With Me’ episodes), he’s dug deep into his hard drive and fired over some edits of a few of his charges on the French Nike 6.0 team. Up first is a renowned double corker and owner of one of the best switch back 10s in the business. Ladies and gentlemen, may we present to you… Gerome Mathieu!

Now that the whirlybirding snowboard ballet has wrapped up outside Vancouver, Franck Moissonnier puts you on his board as he shreds the pow and parks round his local hood.

Unlike the Olympics, this makes us want to go shred. Don’t get us wrong, the pipe finals were frickin’ sick, but us and double corks and switch McTwist 7s ain’t the best of bedfellows, whereas riding pow and pulling piste hits is much more up our street.

This week’s Francky Friday webisode sees him shred about with his GoPro HD, shralp some pow and generally cut loose.

After playing around with his new Go Pro toy in the first ‘Ride with Me’, Francky gets it dialled and lets rip on a La Clusaz powder day with some buddies.

This 19-year-old from Torpo, Norway, has been stamping his mark ever since he won the World Rookie Fest in 2008 and is without doubt one of the most promising rookies around. Now, after solid contest results amongst the big dawgs, Germund has been netted by the Nike 6.0 dudes and immediately set about repaying their confidence by placing third in the BEO.

Starting snowboarding in his backyard as a 9-year-old, Gjermund went on to combine riding with school at the renowned NTG sports college in Geilo, Norway and with such a heritage it’s no surprise that he’s beginning to make a name for himself as one to watch.

Of heading up the Nike 6.0 outerwear team in Europe, Gjermund said, “Joining a crew that’s already killing it and being part of a new era for a company like Nike 6.0 is a big thing for me…” The Nike crew are equally pumped to have hooked the young Norseman and are looking forward to his first full contest season as he rocks their new outerwear.

Designed with their athletes’ demands in mind and an emphasis on sustainability, the line sees Nike fuse their heritage with a focus on eco-friendly materials with trims and zips made from recycled footwear and several pieces using recycled shell and liner fabrics. It’ll be in stores autumn 2010.

Apparently it is this commitment that has led another big name rider, who’s all about the eco lifestyle, to jump from Burton to the Nike outerwear programme. Stay tuned for that guy’s thoughts soon.

Part 3 of FM.TV sees Franck hand over duties to his charges on the Nike 6.0 French team.

As you’ll have seen from the first two of Franck Moissonnier’s webisodes, the man can rip. However, he’s also got a day job looking after the Francophonic members of the Nike 6.0 team. It seems he’s as good at sniffing out talent as he is shredding as he’s built himself a killer team, consisting of Gerome ‘Coin Coin’ Mathieu, Victor De Le Rue, Hugo Marechal and Benoit-Thomas Javid. For this episode of FM.TV, Franck steps behind the cameras to take care of editing duties and lets his boys show what they’ve got.

As you saw from last week’s Francky Friday, although he’s now got ‘a real job’ in team management, Franck Moissonnier can still mix it up with the best of ‘em and his profile in Onboard issue 112 that’s just hit stores confirms this. Now he’s armed himself with a Go Pro HD minicam and drops some POV shredding filmed over the Christmas period. Over to Franck…

“For years I’ve been thinking about doing videos only with POV. At the start of the season I bought the New GO PRO HD and I haven’t stopped filming with it since, it’s so fun to do videos with those classic point of view angles. This first episode of ‘Ride With Me’ is more a testing episode I filmed over Christmas, but I got some sick powder shots. I tried the 960p format for this one and a lot of self filming. I can’t wait to try jumping with it, or following someone off a kicker, it should be sick with the slow motion capture.”
