We hit up a bunch of brands at ISPO to see what they were most pumped on. Check out part 2… and when you’re done you can peep Part 1 of our look at 2014′s snowboard outerwear.

We would like to go to Iceland and we would like to go to Nikita HQ and the AK Extreme and make party with our homies at Nikita. Sadly they won’t let us enter this comp as we have a Y chromosome and we don’t have funbags, but you girls can! Rats.

That’s right, not only will the winner get a trip to Iceland, the six day adventure entails a visit to the flagship store in Reykjavik to choose some new Nikita gear, a look-see at Nikita HQ to meet everyone including founder and head designer Heida Birgisdottir, party with the crew (beware of Geiri), go snowboarding with them, enjoy a soak at the hazy Blue Lagoon and attend the AK Extreme festival of snowboard and music mayhem where the likes of homegrown talents and global gob smackers Halldor Helgason and Gulli Gudmundsson will most likely be riding once again. The event is held in the north of Iceland in a town called Akureyri.

To enter all you need to do is take a photo of yourself in Nikita Outerwear (past or present) and upload it to the Nikita contest website between 10th October 2011 to 10th January 2012. There will be a microsite running on the website www.nikitaclothing.com featuring details about the comp, where your photos will also be visible to others. The winner will be chosen by Nikita and announced on 1st February 2012. Follow the rules: you must be female, over 18 years of age, hold a valid passport and be available to make the trip next year, 11th – 16th April 2012.

So be prepared for many good times from which many good stories will follow.

Nikita is rad Icelandic clothing brand started some 10 years ago by head designer Heida Birigisdottir. Although a skate and streetwear influenced company, they also have strong roots in snowboarding having previously been strong supporters of the Iceland Park Project, not to mention the AK Extreme in Iceland. This snowboarding vibe continues and the outwear product line for 2011/2012 looks as strong as ever.

Geiri explains how their product collection consists of streetwear and outwear, with the outwear always being heavily influenced by the unique style of the streetwear. The streetwear collection has got everything from logo tees, to knits and super nice checked shirts and accommodates girls who want to just rock some street style gear to girls who are serious about fashion and slick style.

With the outwear collection the emphasis is on the fun, says Geiri. As Icelandic weather is notoriously brutal, having top notch outwear that works is a must and Nikita’s product range reflects this. The outwears rad colour schemes, ranging from simple block colours to awesome print patterns again all inspired by the streetwear line, reflect the vibe of fun that the company think is so important. In the range there are 18 jackets and 16 pants which all share style and cut with the street range such as nice slim style pants through to more regular baggy ones. The selection they have is really varied and there is something for everyone.

But the final word has to go to Geiri, ‘In the end its all about the toys, playing and having fun, and if you can’t do that then go do something else’. Not quite sure what toys he’s talking about but you get the general message – Nikita is rad.

Kevin Pearce has been welcomed home (includes great pics of the day). Slopestyle becomes part of the FIS world championships (and maybe the Olympics). Torah Bright and Jake Welch got married. In other Southern Hemisphere news the resorts down under begin to open their doors. The German 21inch Crew releases a decent teaser called Restless. Kevin Backstrom bought a boat. And someone invented a real hover board!

SUNDAY

There are at least two different Brightons, at least one of which has been visited by the Videograss crew. A good snowboard book gets a great review. And True Life has always been a great snowboard flick: Watch it here in full length!

Iceland: Lots of snow and one big earth fart.

Our buddy at Nikita, Geiri, dropped us a mail to let us know that despite Mother Nature venting its innards through one of their Volcanoes, all is mostly well on their North Atlantic island. There’s even plenty of snow kicking around should anyone fancy heading over and bagging what would surely be the mother of all cover shots…

“We here at Nikita Iceland have been getting a lot of emails and viral feedback from people all over the world asking us if we are alright. And the answer is quite simple: “Yes, we are alright and so is the rest of the island”. The eruption and ash cloud is mainly affecting a rural area in the south.

Pictures often say more than many words or over-pesimistic news reporters. So check out the pictures on the link.

The satelite picture shows pretty well how the volcano is affecting Iceland. It’s right there in the bottom (south) spewing ash towards Europe. And yes there is still plenty of snow even though it is officially the first day of summer here tomorrow. And yes all is well here in Iceland, don´t believe everything the global media spews at you
