Practice is ON at the inaugural O’Neill Evolution and the boys have been getting to grips with the beasty wedge that’s the focal point of the action. See what the riders make of the thing.

Word on the street is the event organisers aim was to construct a booter with enough airtime for the dudes to go triple should the occasion take them. As you’ll see from Wakeham’s iPhone reportage here, it’s sure got some airtime on it, and while the riders are reckoning it’s a tad whippy right now with a bit of shaping the contest could be a bit fancy. You’ll be able to watch all the überspinning from the semis on Friday and the finals on Saturday evening on the O’Neill Live page.

O’Neill Evolution 2012 – Halfpipe Cancelled but Big Air Firmly ON

Sadly the pipe side of this shindig in Davos shortly after New Years has had to be cancelled due to a lack of snow required to construct a superpipe, but the good news is all the attention will be focussed on a banging Big Air contest with a host of the planet’s finest shreds who’ll rock up to throw down hammers. The O’Neill Evolution 2012 is gearing up to welcome the world’s best freestyle snowboarders back to the Jakobshorn in Davos, Switzerland from January 2-7, 2012. Though the pipe’s been scrubbed, the Big Air could get tasty as the riders list is looking pretty darned heavy: Seb Toutant, Germund Bråten and Peetu Piiroinen are but three of the dudes who”ll be doing battle to nab a slice of the 125K US dollar prize pot.

It’s clear O’Neill are looking for something special from the event’s latest incarnation, as the PR honks of “a kicker spanning 24 meters in length – the biggest Davos has ever seen, and one that has been specifically designed to allow riders to attempt triple corks,” followed by a selection of jib features for the riders to show off their versatility.

So if you’re around Davos between January 2 and 7 2012 then swing by and have a gander. O’Neill Launch ‘Destination Unknown’ Facebook Comp

O’Neill have come up with a pretty tech bit o’ social media competitioning with some awesome prizes to be won. Read all about it…

Social networking. It’s like the new messiah, with all and sundry bowing down before the heavenly glory of Zuckerberg’s blue-tinged data mine. Aaaannyway, O’Neill have come up a pretty cool thing that sure beats stalking your ex… with some neat prizes up for grabs for those who win.

Simply enter your digits in the Destination Unknown app thing (you might have to Like their Facebook page first) and it’ll work its magic to convert your number into GPS coordinates. If this lands you in a mountain resort you could be off to a Destination Unknown for a backcountry trip with freerider Mitch Toelderer with all the trimmings. That’s the big ‘un, but there’s also a full set of Jeremy Jones’ pro model O’Neill outerwear, and some other individual bits of outerwear and earcans to be won.
