Canadian shooter Scott Serfas has been producing epic photos of snow, skate and surf for 20 years. Last winter he bagged a slot in the prestigious Pro Photographer Showdown at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival in Whistler, and this is his story.

He’s also responsible for one of our personal favorite shred shots of recent years, which is in this. What is it? This AK shot of John Jackson dropping in to insanity. The riding, the spot, the composition, the light, the LIGHT! Epic.

In the second part (of two) of his Open Shutter interview, snowboard photog Andy Wright talks about digital photography. Since Andy is one of the top lensmen out there you better listen to what he has to say about the world of computers, and his favourite shots of 2009/10.

Andy Wright – a living legend in the world of snowboard photography. Andy has been around the world on a 15 year streak shooting with the best snowboarders along the way. If you have thumbed through a snowboard magazine in the past decade and a half and not seen a shot by Andy…chances are, you could be blind. Currently, as a senior photographer for Transworld Snowboarding, his photos keep your eyes wide open and drooling over style. With no signs of burning out, Andy will continue to please your brain for many years to come, bringing only the best of the best.

Part 2 of 2 Takes you behind the computer screen. Sit down with Andy and hear his thoughts on digital photography, along with a few stories behind his favorite photos from 2009/2010.

Endeavor Snowboards founder and eminent action sports photographer Scott Serfas has unveiled a new website chronicling his photographic exploits and the stories behind his images.

If you've seen any of the old Wildcats movies you'll know Scott knows how to party as well as shoot some of the best images in the game.

Endeavor Snowboards founder and eminent action sports photographer Scott Serfas has unveiled a new website chronicling his photographic exploits and the stories behind his images.

“This new website allows me to share my experiences as they happen,” says Scott. “Action sports is a lifestyle and when I am shooting snow, skate, surf or just amazing, raw landscapes and the characters that inhabit them, I find people are often more interested in the story behind the scenes than they are in the outcome.”

Not to say the photographic outcomes aren’t worthy of attention too. Serfas’s new website displays a staggering array of images including limited edition prints available for purchase online. A blog will detail some aspects of his day-to-day shoots and will provide a glimpse into what could be showing up in magazines next season.

“I am recognized for my ability to translate the athlete’s point of view and their experience,” says Serfas. “I insist on capturing scenes that illustrate the scale and magnitude of the landscape so everyone sees a realistic interpretation of what the athlete is actually doing. On top of that, I strive for a unique perspective which sometimes means I am shooting in the equipment basket attached to the outside of a helicopter or I am scaling some peak at 5am to get the sunrise.”

With over 50 magazine covers to his name, Serfas is probably best known for his work in snowboarding and for his thirteen-year tenure as a senior photographer for the magazine TransWorld SNOWboarding. Serfas’s impact on Endeavor Snowboards and Airhole Facemasks is evident in each of the brand’s imagery and creative direction. His portfolio also features skate and surf photography; travel, landscapes and portraits; as well as commercial shoots for clients including Ransom by Adidas.

Check out www.scottserfas.com online or on the go with mobile viewing platforms for the iPhone and iPad. Serfas can also be stalked via Twitter @scott_serfas and “liked” at www.facebook.com/scottserfasphotography .

And the winners are...

This sick shot from Paul Zeiner is the winning image.

Remember? Wängl Tängl? 2010? Mayrhofen/Austria? At its ‘Gang Jam’ snowboard contest the ‘young guns’ and ‘old dogs’ delivered a show that is hard to match in Tyrol! And the ‚Game of Skate’ contest in the areaway between the staircases of the ‘Penkenbahn’ in Mayrhofen was the perfect location to get a real arena feeling and the turntable show of the ‘Waxolutionists’ was rad in true Ästhetiker style. Motivated photographers have recorded the whole action for the Wängl Tängl Photo Contest 2010 and uploaded their work onto Mayrhofen’s #1 shred shop’s website www.theseeker.at. It has been a hard time for the jury, but now the winners have been determined!

Stefan Voitl shot "I don't know rider" and scored second place.

All photo freaks and artsy photogs had the opportunity to register on The Seeker’s website and upload their photos for the Waengl Taengl Photo Contest 2010. A jury of the experienced photographer Christian Boehm, the snowboard legend and Vans European team manager Tom “Beckna” Eberharter and graphic designer, artist and snowboard photographer Simon Lemmerer have judged the different rounds and categories.

Jochen Bauer's monochrome awesomeness came in third.
