Sick tricks at the park and fun powder lines? that was the first shooting of the new season at the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai. A Hungarian crew together with QParks filmer Balint Hambalko took a road trip up to Schladming to rock the rails, boxes and kickers. Before you start riding this snowpark it’s very important to warm up your muscles. Further you should get a detailed overview of the park, the obstacles and the inruns. The best strategy is to watch the locals for a while before you hit the park or the first big kicker that comes your way! Many accidents happen because of too much or too little speed on the inrun. Speed-check is the solution! Also the best riders fall sometimes. Protection? Not bad idea! In the Horsefeathers Superpark  Planai the 10 FIS-Rules  are in force and you also have to abide the QParks-Rules! And yes, we are talking about Horsefeathers Superpark Planai…

The Planai Hochwurzen lifts have been running a Snow Park project with the Atomic Superpark (now Horsefeathers Superpark) on the Dachstein glacier for years now. Last season they extended their existing freestyle offer with the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai. Both parks are complimenting each other seasonally. And the experienced team from Qparks (Quality Snow Parks), is taking care for the top conditions in the park every day, each season, all year long.

Last week we decided to go to Horsefeathers Superpark Planai and check how is there. Nejc Ferjan and Domen Bizjak were also curios about the set-up, se they joined us for a real spring shred.

Horsefeathers Superpark Planai is offering three different levels of kickers. First, begginer kickers (three in line) are perfect for all who wants to start with jumping in the park, then on the right side of the park you can find “middle weight” kickers having from 5 m to 7 m flat (again three in a line). Next to it are their big brothers. From 13 m to 20 m flat, three in a line (kicker, kicker and a big roler). What about rails and boxes? So many possibilites that is hard to decied where to go. Again on the left side you can find small, tiny boxes for all the youngsters. Right from it, there are three lines of different obstacles. All shapes possible. Rainbow, up/down box, straight box, kinked box, and so on and on. And they were saving with rails also. From straight rail to pole jam. And three picnik tables. Sounds nice? It is…

Enough about the facts. For now you will need to be satisfied only with pics. But don’t forget to come back, because a short movie is also coming by the end of this week with all the stuff I can’t explain here…so stay tuned!!!

The second event on the 19th of December 2009 was a huge success! The next Kids Snowboard Day is coming up soon on the 13th of March, and once again, it’s FREE for all kids!
At the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai, the Blue Tomato Teamriders will teach the kids some helpful tips and tricks, there will be free beginners lessons and rental equipment, as well as “learn to ride” test material by Burton, before we finish the day off with a goodie-bag giveaway at the Blue Tomato Shop in Schladming.

We can guarantee all snowboard-fans an extended Christmas feast: the Horsefeatheres Superpark Planai opens its gates on the 24th of December 2009 and celebrates its Big Park Opening on the 26th of December 2009 with chilled-out vibes and many specials.

While most of us have spent the relaxed times over the summer exchanging snowboards for surfboards and skateboards, QParks took the shovel to extend the set-up in the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai. The complete park-area got bigger, a new 3 laned kicker-line for advanced- and pro-riders has been installed and the whole beginner and intermediate section has been expanded with new rails and boxes.

While snowwise we had a little delay in the heart of Austria, Bernd Mandlberger and his crew guarantee the park set-up of the predominant part of the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai (excluding the pro kicker line) until the 24th of December.

And two days later follows the first event highlight:
From 10 a.m. on the gates of the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai will be opened and the park invites its guests for a common riding session accompanied by the rockin sounds of DJ Truckdriver and the speaker. During the morning all riders have the opportunity to get professional pictures taken of themselves on various obstacles at the public photo and film shooting. The final material can be downloaded from the website www.horsefeatherssuperpark.com afterwards. To regain energy, at 2 p.m. the rider-specials lunch can be collected at the Weitmoosalm. At different points of time, a couple of Goodies-for-Trix sessions will be going on at various obstacles at which everyone can win awesome prizes from our partners and sponsors.

At 9 p.m. the party folk meets at the Friends bar in Schladming for the Horsefeathers Superpark Opening Party, where DJ tdk will heat the atmosphere with his diverse tunes and let all freestylers turn the night into day.

As an early Christmas-gift for all snowboard-fans, the Horsefeatheres Superpark Planai opens its gates on the 19th of December 2009. Its “big brother”, the Atomic Superpark Dachstein, will be open at least until the 13th December. This will be a seamless transition to the upcoming winter season and once again, the Schladming-Dachstein region provides 10 months of freestyle!

In the course of the summer 09, QParks has heavily worked on the earth-terrain-forms and now the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai lights up in a completely new shine: The complete park-area was extended, a new 3 laned medium and pro kicker-line has been installed and the whole beginner and intermediate section has been expanded with new rails and boxes. Bernd Mandlberger and his crew will prepare as many obstacles as possible for the big opening on Dec 19th. Because of the warm temperature there is unfortunately too less snow at the moment for building up a decent set-up. Against the forecast Bernd and his team have decided to set up at least the beginners line. Needless to say, they are waiting impatiently for the first “real” snow.

At the opening there will be free coaching with snowboard pro-riders such as Max Weickl who placed 3rd at the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam, be sure he can give you some helpful tips and tricks. Another highlight will be the public Photo – and Film-shooting at which all riders get the opportunity for having professional pictures taken of oneself at various obstacles. The final material can be downloaded on www.horsefeatherssuperpark.com And to be sure you won’t get bored if taking some timeout between your runs, our speaker and the tuning beats of LIVE DJ tdk will keep you entertained. Around the park-area the 2nd Blue Tomato Kids Snowboard Day will take place, where the younger audience will become the focus. Juniors will be taught the basics of snowboarding by professionals. The Blue Tomato Kids Snowboard Day 2009 will take place on December 19th 2009 at the Planai and is of course FREE for all kids!

The kids are getting pro-tips from our Blue Tomato teamriders, who are going to support the kids with heart and soul. So if you are already bored from the normal downhill shredding and you need a new challenge, you should come by and try out the rails and boxes the funpark has to offer. But certainly we are not forgetting the beginners among yourselves. At the Blue Tomato snowboard school Planai the kids will get beginner`s courses for free, so that next time they will be able to hit the park. With a video session and the dispersal of goodie bags in the Blue Tomato Shop Schladming the Kids Snowboard Day will have its finish.
